John Clayton's take

8. New Orleans Saints at Carolina Panthers Are the Saints for real? Their Monday night dominance of the Falcons was impressive. They might be considered the least respected 3-0 team in recent memory, so Sunday's game is the testing ground. The victory over the Falcons was the perfect situation for them. A blocked punt recovered for a TD gave them a 7-0 lead and the crowd excitement from the return of football to New Orleans energized the players. After Drew Brees led the Saints to a second touchdown, the Falcons were in a tough spot because their offense isn't geared to big comebacks on the road. After 25 divisional games in the first three weeks, this is the only division game of the weekend. New Orleans coach Sean Payton turned over more than half of the roster so the Panthers game really will test those moves. The Panthers pulled out a hard-fought victory over the Bucs and are trying to gain some momentum in an effort to get back into the NFC South race. They pounded Bucs quarterback Chris Simms last week. Brees played with the lead the entire game, so this will be a much tougher challenge for him and the Saints. Enjoy Nuking the passage in bold type. |

RE: John Clayton
I guess the GB game meant nothing, the team as a whole stayed calm after falling behind 13-0 on 3 turn overs. and won the shoot out in the 4th with ball control foot ball. drops and fumbles do not stop them. henderson drops a pass and drew throws a TD to him on the same drive. drew is the difference. true carolina is a big test of the secondary. biggest of the year. i am betting on ball control to keep them of the field and keep our D fresh.

You know, I've finally decided I don't give a flying f*** what the so-called experts say about any games or teams we face. They change their opinion more often than Rosie O'Donnell eats a hamburger. Well, just last week we weren't even in the same league as the Falcons and now this week THIS is supposed to be the biggest test??? All the experts do is go with the flavor of the week, kind of like Theisman going with the Saints on this game when he blamed our win last week on the new Superdome turf. I put more stock in the opinions of die-hard Saints fans, we usually are our on worst critics but most of the time we hit a little closer than the experts on calling our games.

Nearly every "expert" picked the Panthers to represent the NFC in the SB. It would be a terrible blow to their crediblity and ego to start admitting they were wrong about the Saints.
They're going to continue to look for excuses, until the Saints give them no other avenues to explore. That last avenue is called Super Bowl Dr. |

We beat the Browns but people said the Browns weren't much of a team..
Then we beat Green Bay at their house but some said the Packers aren't what they use to be. In our 3rd game we beat the Falcons at home, a win that no one except Saints fan thought we could win, but we did and now a lot of people are saying we beat them because it was our first game in the dome in over a year and the team was fill with emotion. What will they say if we beat the Panthers on Sunday?, I bet they'll say the Panthers aren't a very good football team right now, I think we'll have to beat the Eagles to get respect.. |
Rest In Peace JoeSam, thanks for everything my friend.

Actually, experts were saying the Atlanta game was supposed to be a "Test" for the Saints before the game. After the game they said it was all emotion.
