Penalties!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! History kills us!!!!
Looking back over our history, I have found that during Bum Phillips, Jim Mora, Jim Haslett eras that penalties is the main reason we have not gone further in the postseason or having better records.
Even Dick Nolan before the 1-15 season in 1980 had a 15-17 record. The reason we did not get a winning record or playoffs was because the Saints lost a ton ground because of penalties. The 1-15 season could have been another 7-9 season at least. We lost 6 games by 5 or less points during that season. Guess what penalties were way up during the 1-15 season. They can really kill a season. My point is that if we keep the penalties down we should have good season. P.S. The first winning record of 12-3 in 1987 with Jim Mora as coach could have been 15-0 because we lost those three games by a combined 17 points. Just very close. We lost to the 49ers in the first game between us 24-22 and we won the second game. Cut out the penalties |

Even if they are bad, they shoot themselves in the foot A LOT with penalties, and have the the past several years. And penalties was almost our undoing against the Bucs. We need to tighten that up. It didn't seem like an issue the first few games, maybe we became kinda complacent. |

absolutely. It was the fans fault for causing our offense 4 false start penalites against the Bucs because they didn't make a peep during the snap counts. At least the number of holding penalties is down this year over last...
