... damn you, Aretha Franklin...
... how does TV coverage amount to "respect'"? It is simply a busness decision: In SoCal: now that Reggie broke the ice, there's higher interest in watching him. In San Asstonio: they are still dreaming of a b&g christmas. In Houston: people want to see Reggie fail. In Louisiana: obvious. And the rest of the world: Many Eagles fans nationwide. Like to hear it or not, about a third of the season gone by, a match of 4-1 division leading teams has *gasp* playoff implications. ... it has nothing to do with "respect:"... BTW, they ought to add an entry in the dictionary for "respect" : most overused and misused word in the English language. |

Have to agree, again, with Tobias. Very little to do with respect, but still good to see fo rthose that may not normally get to see the Saints. But honestly, if we keep playing well, we will be on TV a LOT in the future.

Man, I am so seriously considering Sunday Ticket. I gotta hold out another couple seasons to see if digital cable (which I currently get) will swing a deal with the NFL one day... a Saints fan can dream, even (or especially) if it's delusional!
And I like your suggestion, saintswhodi, I can also see the saints on TV a LOT in the future, especially in the month of January!! Yeah, and Tobias? All your reasons we are getting TV coverage are signs of respect. We deserve attention because people want to see the stars on our teams, or they lust after our franchise, or they are jealous player haters, or they are true fans (like us). And how do you think business decisisons aren't based on results? They recognize. That's respect. No need for dictionaries, buddy. If our team doesn't produce, they don't get covered on a national basis. They are getting that attention now. The people who program are acknowledging our team as a serious contender. Very basic. Ask yourself this, if the Saints were to continue to win, and TV networks began cutting the coverage, would you consider that disrespect? I guess you don't see the link between respect and acknowledgement of accomplishments. BTW, what's you definition or respect again? To me, respect has to do with attention and appreciation of what we can do, but it also has to do with results. Are you saying that the Saints aren't producing results consistent with a sports team being featured on a national level? I think we are and we will. Go Saints!! (no disrespect intended, of course! ) kuke |

I waited to see if Cable would get DirecTv as well, couldn't wait any longer. Dude, just get it. I am telling you. Best thing ever. The next step I hope they take is where you can just buy all the games for the team you wanna see, like just a Saints package or something. That would be sweet.

Here in Houston we are getting the Saints as game of the week. With the 62" and the surround sound blaring and a house full of displaced Louisiana boys and a gumbo on the stove, we gonna have a big time yeah.

... but seriously, I do agree that 's good for the fans who otherwise weren'y be able to catch the games before can catch them now. Also, the more national exposure the Saints get, the less the "small market" argument works, if you know what I mean. This season is a carpe diem season for the Saints. They are the feel-good story of the year. The more games they win, the more people will watch them, the more banwag... er.. fans they'll make. |

And now......just to let you know.........THIS SUNDAY COULD NOT HAVE BEEN ANY BETTER!!!!!! (well the Phins could have at least squeaked out a W in their game but to no avail.) I knew we could take these guys and now we get a bye. SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Yeah, I had to listen on Sirius again. I'm up in Blacksburg, VA. Haven't gotten a Sunday afternoon Saints game yet! I just wish they'd decide who they wanna root for. Sometimes we get Redskins games because Virginia still has dreams of making the Washington Redskins the "Virginia/DC Redskins," sometimes we get Panthers because geographically they're the closest, and sometime we get Falcons so Tech fans and thinking longingly of their Micheal Vick days. And then sometimes we get the national game! I think our local Fox just plays rock-paper-scissors to decide.

I looked at the lineup for our game against the Ravens, and its like a perfect storm come a fortnight from now, as far as possible national TV coverage goes. CBS has a doubleheader that week and for the possible early games, there are only 2 other choices, one of them being the juggernauts of Houston vs. Titans and the other is Jacksonville vs. The team we just hit in the face with a brick. Personally, I think our game would be a far superior matchup.
I can see it now. . . a grand majority of the country tuning in 2 weeks from now to see the Saints and Ravens return from their bye weeks to do some battle. Can I get an AMEN, brothers and sisters!!! How sweet it is!! ! Go Saints!! kuke |
