I sent the writer this:

Dear Mr. Morris,

I took offense to your most recent article regarding the New Orleans Saints Football Club. I am a resident of Louisiana. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina my grandmothe, a resident of New Orleans, lost her home to flood waters and was then diagnosed with cancer. The house has been rebuilt then sold and she now resides an hour or so north where she can get the cancer treatment she needs.

The state of Louisiana has suffered more than the other Gulf Coast states since last years devastating hurrican season. The good citizens of Louisiana quickly realized that the complacency to which we approached to government of our state had come back to haunt them. The corruption at all levels of government and ineffective leadership for the last 20 years gave us a wake up call. The tragedy that unfolded as a result of this corruption and lack of leadership left little for us to pin our hopes on for a brighter day. We would like believe that any success that our team has will translate, however small, into some tangible change in the community.

I have been a Saints from as long as I can remember and have suffered through many, many disappointing seasons. This one feels different and it is due to more than the play of team. We do not have much to point to and say this will make things better. The road to recovery will be hard and long fought. I think it will be longer than most people realize. If once a week people in New Orleans and the rest of the Gulf Coast can go to a game or watch a television screen and feel better for 3 or 4 hours then let them have it. We are working hard down here to rebuild a state not only torn by Katrina, but by Rita as well. Our coast is disappearing our citizens are not returning and at times feels like the federal government has abandoned us. We plod on everyday to make things better and once a week we get a little inspiration from 53 men wearing the Black & Gold, why do you insist upon tearing away at that. Many people in the US have also found these "Warriors of Hope" to be inspiring to them. To me these are true sports fans that appreciate the hope that the Saints inspire.

President Bush said that he was tired of the Yankees winning, because everyone else who is not a Yankees fan is as well. Alot of people who are not even baseball fans are tired of the them winning as well, count me among them. I once was a baseball fan in my younger years. I went to see Nolan Ryan pitch a game in his farewell season. I went to Houston to see the light show in the Astrodome one last time before it was torn down. I now longer pay attention to MLB, for the simple reason that there is very little competition anymore. The dramatic rise of the NFL in revenue and popularity is largely due to the leagues belief in parody. As soon as the big guys in MLB realize that, there will be more money for everyone and teams besides the Yankees, Red Sox, and Dodgers may be able to sell out some games outside of September and October.

My future brother-in-law is a rabid Philadelphia Eagles fan. I called him the day after the game to ask him about something unrealted to the game on Suday and he told me how pleased he was that they had lost to the Saints and not someone else on Sunday. The accounts of many Saints and Eagles fans at the game also tell me that Eagles fans are ok with losing to us and finding out that those players are doing something bigger than 60 minutes on Sunday. They are playing for hope, community, and most of all a reckoning.

I have read your internet "published" article a couple of times already and have failed to see what point you were trying to make. I do, howver, take one silver lining from your angry, contrite, and misguided philosophy. The many fans of the New Orleans Saints have done one thing in the last 6 weeks that you have not. We have risen from futile anger and hopeless resentment. Our voices cheer instead of jeer. We chant victory and REG-GIE instead of yelling boo. You, on the other hand will continue to reside in the quagmire that is a Yankeeless October.

This guy is such a poor writer that it is hard to imagine that he's allowed to have a weekly column. Supposedly he is allowed to publish based on some "expertise" he convinced others to believe that he has in policy and public freedoms.

His main point is that if you cheer for the Saints and you're not originally a Saints' fan, then you are against freedom, democracy and the American Dream.

However, he makes his point that anyone sane would want to keep things the status quo, like the Yankees should always win and the Saints should always lose. Clearly not American and not a supporter of freedom and definitely not anyone worth reading. This waste of skin is a great example of why abortion should have been legalized before 1974. I'm sure his relatives get an anal pucker knowing that they have to hang their heads in shame for their genetic association.

Mr. Morris now has something in common with so many of the Black&Gold members....They have been unpimped by XAN!!!

There's one thing I hate more than stupidity, it's ignorant stupidity.

This guy is a complete jerk. I read the whole article and I kept waiting for him to say "Gotcha". He is really making no sense. He want's New Orleans to stay the same. Why? I was born in Lousiana and I loved going to New Orleans, but the fact is the city was regularly in the top of the nation in the murder rate. The fact that it was viewed as a party town lightly masked something seriously wrong in the city. If you're from Lousiana you'll know what I'm talking about. So I seriously don't want New Orleans to go back to what it use to be. I want it to be better. I don't know what this guy was trying to say. That if you hate freedom, hope their football team does bad? It's stupid. If they do poorly than it's less money coming into the city, less jobs. That helps the town Mr. Morris.
