piss poor performance

jesus h. christ.... i haven't been this disappointed by the saints in a long time.... i should have known better than to get anxious and expect them to come out and play good after a bye week.... i was so excited about today, and then all of a sudden, the saints looked the saints of old.... turnovers, penalties, dumb mistakes.... wow.... we better shape up fast.... falcons are coming on strong, so are the panthers.... perfect opportunity for us to get another game on the division and we totally blew it.... reggie better learn real fast that a 2 yd gain is better than a 5 yd loss....

RE: piss poor performance

why did we not even try to establish the run early in the game with deuce? it's like we didn't even consider involving him in the game plan... and our offensive line? false starts?! at home?! sad...... like i said piss poor....

The Ravens only give up an avg. of 2.7 yards per carry, I guess the Saints felt that they had a better chance winning by passing, I know I did..
Look, we're still 5-2, come on, a lot of other teams have lost two games so far this season, it's part of the game.

After reading chRxis posts if I didn't know we were 5-2 I'd feel like we were 0-7 and have been blown out of every game.

RE: piss poor performance

that's exactly the attitude i expect from contented fans..... screw that.... i say don't become content, don't become ok with where we are..... next week you'll be saying "look we're still 5-3.... 5-4.... etc..... screw that.... they better figure out the problem quick.... tampa gave us hell the first time around and i'm sure they are looking for some pay back and having gradkowski get some experience, hell, we might be in trouble... you must not realize that we're hanging by a thread right about now....

Exactly. I mean this is hardly a reason to push the panic button. We just fell behind in the turnover ratio and never recovered.

RE: piss poor performance

look i'm glad we're 5-2 but honestly we very well could let this early season success go to the wayside and have a bad end of the season and miss the playoffs... i just really don't want to see that happen....

when i see us come out and play like st. jude's catholic blind girls powderpuff football team after a bye week, i start to see that we aren't where we need to be.... they were probably sitting back thinking they got everything figured out and then all of sudden when week 14 gets here we may be on the outside looking in if this continues... we looked foolish today and i'm hoping that it was a one week thing, but i'm very afraid that it isn't

You're right. I see no reason why a team that went 3-13 a year ago, and has had about 30 player changes since last year, shouldn't be expected to contend for a Super Bowl birth.

Did you not know before today that we don't have a dominant OL or defense?

chRxis 10-29-2006 04:40 PM

RE: Re: RE: piss poor performance

my whole point is that we were expected to win by everyone and we came out like retards and turned the ball over, had penalties that killed us and basically got down early, so much so that we didn't have a chance to win no matter what.... i'm just very concerned that down the road as the road and competition gets tougher, we're going to look back and say, we should have won that game.... the schedule is about to become a really ***** the next couple of weeks and we need to stockpile all those wins while we can... we didn't do that today, and getting our asses handed to us may have a negative effect on the team for the rest of the season....

LSUJeremy 10-29-2006 06:08 PM

RE: Re: RE: piss poor performance

There won't be many games where we turn it over 5 times.

Today's game reminded me of the LSU/Florida game a couple weeks ago. Neither the Saints or LSU were able to get in to their original gameplan, or play the other team "even" because many of the turnovers resulted in the Ravens/Gators getting points.

We've seen what kind of coaching staff/team we have from the first 6 games. To me, today was just one of those bad days a team has every now and then, and not an indication of what we should expect in future games.

Today sucked, but those mistakes that cost us the game can be fixed.

chRxis 10-29-2006 06:25 PM

RE: Re: RE: piss poor performance

plain and simple, we can't continue to lose the games we're supposed to win.... we can't come out turn the ball over, etc. and give a win away... not in our division... that's my gist of my rant.... you can take what you want from it, but that's my concern.... at the end of the year, if we don't make the playoffs this will be one that we look back and say that we should have played better and won.....

its one game and you know what hopefully it is a wake up call and we come out and wipe the floor with tampa next week. or at least just come away with a win. it is one game we came out flat and just didn't play well.

RE: Re: RE: piss poor performance

It's a wake up call that has to be answered. This was a dismal effort and worse that it came at home after a bye. There are no easy games from here on out, and there's no excuses. I don't care at this point that the team is "young" or "new to the system" or what have you. Eight games into the season, you step up.

I don't understand why these guys were given 4 days off to screw around to begin with. Lack of preparation and desire are only two ingredients for this sad effort.

The fans shouldn't have left, they should have stayed to the bitter end and booed.

Hey Deuce over Reggie anytime right now cuz Bush is showing he is not a between the OT runner then when he is outside the OT he can't choose where he needs to run.......Total yrds. don't mean squat when on the ground u avg. 2.9 a carry......75 receptions and 90 yrds. don't mean squat when u have no TDs...PLAY DEUCE we paid him good money he's the best RB in history!

Deuce must still feel the effects with the hammy, I heard his name twice today it seems.

RE: Re: RE: piss poor performance

Guys, please. I'm starting to get agitated with some of your posts.

We didn't establish the running game because we're playing against the best defense in the NFL and they were keying on our running game. We didn't allow ourselves to have many running predicaments because we continued to shoot ourselves in the foot with penalties. We constantly had to gain more than 10-yards just for a first down. You can't run in those situations.

Oh, and not to mention, we were playing from behind all game long.

I don't know what the hell you guys are talking about. Either you guys are way too drunk or... I don't know.

As far as this Bush hating goes, why don't you look up his stats and see HOW MANY FIRST DOWNS HE HAS MADE THIS YEAR. While they're not TD's, picking up first downs are crucial to sustaining drives. You'll see that Bush has quite a few under his belt - along with Joe Horn, who everyone wanted to throw in the hearse earlier this season because he hasn't scored a TD.

Geez, man! We had a bad day.

The Steelers just lost to the Raiders this week. Dallas beat Carolina worse than the Ravens beat us. Oh, and, atleast we're not the 49'ers.

saintsrule 10-30-2006 01:55 AM

Drew Brees made some dumb plays.

Bise 10-30-2006 08:09 AM

Actually we had a lot of bad luck and penalties..... the turn overs didn't go our way, the calls didn't go our way and that put us behind early.

We are a good team but it is hard to come back after that kind of situation.

hagan714 10-30-2006 08:19 AM

Bingo bise.
I am :puke: behind you DJ.
Lets just :flush: the season now
HELLO
It was a turd on the field and lady luck wrapped up nice and pretty for the ravens. but it was still a turd. teams all have days like that. look at philli yesterday.
Things like this happen in the NFL. besides drew and the gang almost climbed back into it a couples of times but the ball bounced to ravens everytime. Relax

jrmllb 10-30-2006 08:28 AM

Playing from behind against the Ravens is not a way to win...they are 41-1 with a 14 point lead...Our D got better late in the game...very dispointed in secondary play...Michael Lewis, I know the talking heads were saying it but it was nice to see him back on the field and mobile, 46 yd return great...I thought it would be a spark but did not last...look forward to him doing it when we are ahead to line up the death nail in a big game...loved watching Colston punk McAlister...

hagan714 10-30-2006 09:06 AM

I know but that is the way the game played out.
If the team believed the way you all do they would have folded at 21-7. the score would have been 35-7. but they kept plugging away. that is a plus. A few bounces our way and the game would have been different. but that did not happen. What if Reggie would have thrown it a few seconds later and closton was ready for the jump ball? what if after the defense held and the ravens punted the ball did not die inside the 5 and we started at the 20? what it the tipped pass feel to the ground? what if drew had a an extra 2 feet to set and throw? that alone is 14 points for the ravens and momentum changes of the game. Lady luck was not on our side. but the team kept plugging away and fighting to get back into the game. that is something we have not had for so many years. enjoy it. reconize the effort at the least. they did not fold.

Euphoria 10-30-2006 11:47 AM

We were dominated plain and simple. We don't have a great line to block but we had an average rush at best. Our weekness's have been exposed it was only time before they were brought to bare.

not to mention shooting ourselves in the foot with penalites... geez.

Bush isn't the savior HELLO!!!! BUILD THE FREAKIN TEAM ON THE DAMN LINE ALREADY
