this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; now that we are half way through the season and we can evaluate the trade a little better, was it a good trade?...

If we can get that 3rd. Simoneau hasn't helped our run D much, teams still have a high average per carry against us. Thank God we jumped on Tampa early and Caddy only got 12 carries. Early on it seemed like the Eagles made out with Stall going off though, but he has been hurt more than he has played, and Simoneau is at least on the field, so I think we still got the edge. Getting that 3rd would top it definitely.

It is most likely going to be a third cuz I can't see noone trying to go after him w/that hamstring problem. This was his money year and that couldn't motivate him to be in better shape for a season, what make him and the GM's think a change of venue will make any difference. Philly will sign him i bet after his 3rd start with the team & hopefully they will fall down low enough so we can get a quality player

The hammie is not so much a conditioning. When you get speed guys they all come with that risk. Medically I can not explain why but I have heard it more than once.
As for the 3 I think it will happen. The Eagles have been playing it real safe with him. Almost to a fault. They seem to be more worried about the streach run at the end of the season. I will not pass judgement on the trade till I see how the pick is used. then we will know more. |

was it good?! of course it was?! we traded an injury prone #2 receiver and got a solid starting linebacker, which was a weakness for us last year, and an extra pick in the 3rd or 4th round next year.... plus, it allows us to put some of our younger, talented wideouts out on the field, that may not have had that chance if we still would have stallworth.... if we would have kept him, colston might not be getting the playing time he is now, plus stallworth would have walked after the season without us getting anything in return.... considering how much he's playing for the eagles, we came out smelling like a rose with this one...
