Containment 101
The LB are to blame yes but the CB have the most blame to shoulder on the Parker runs. The OLB are responsable for stringing the play out. It is the CB responsibility to turn the runner back into the LB that is stringing the play out. That is how it is suppose to work.
Our CB were crashing way to stronge to the inside. Heck watch the plays again and you will see the CB actual cutting off the OLB. I have no idea why this was going on. I really do not think the was the def. game plan. Unless we were trying to stop parker in between the tackles. He did have good success early there. Fundementally unsound football. Did any one else notice this? Can any one explain this to me? |

RE: Containment 101
Yes its how its suppose to work but we blew it. I don't know what is going on with McKenzie this year. We really have solid/ok CB's but they are stinking up the joint this year. Time to clean house in the secondary.

RE: Containment 101
I see it like this. Our defense is right now at best......good. That means that for the most part..they can get thejob done on all facets but a good defense (not great or excellent) will have games like this. No matter how good or bad we do this season I see something that I have not seen or heard the Saints have since '86....a foundation. We are a few key acquisitions away from being complete NFL powerhouses. Our time will come soon folks.

We thought the same of the offensive line, IIRC. They have played really really well.
The Saints have become what I expected them to be: superior offense with a decent defense. The offense needs to simply secure the ball, and the defense simply needs to not give up the big play and everything will be fine with this team. Agree on the foundation too. Expectations will grow after another offseason of acquisition and gelling. But they are good enough now to make some noise. They just need to stop stabbing themselves in the foot. SFIAH |
Super Bowl Championships: New Orleans Saints:1, Carolina:0, Atlanta Chokers: STILL ZERO
Only Atlanta choked in an unchokable situation... Life is definitely good. |

Ya know SFIAH....altohugh we hate it when they lose games by shooting themselves in the foot we have to consider this... In 9 games and with 3 losses....our feet luckily only have 2 bullets in them. With the teams we have played which most are known for creating defensive havoc....only two times this year have we shot our feet. Truthfully I am nothing short of happy. It feels good ya know. It has been 14 years since we have seen something this solid from the Saints. Some monster pickups on defense during off-season and maybe a reciever (I say that now cause of yestarday's game but truth is truth...age is creeping up on Horn) and next year (if we stay healthy) we are going to be a force to reckon with.
