my thoughts on the saints vs bengals game...

1. Fred Thomas may have had the worst individiual performance by a cb I have ever seen in my life. What a joke. And it wasn't just Chad, it didn't matter who was on that side, everytime a reciever caught the ball they were being "guarded" by Thomas. Bring back craft, there's no way he could do any worse.

2. I wasn't big on the playcalling, especially in the redzone, we really need to run the ball more. I was happy we called deuces number twice inside the 5, it didn't work out this time but I like the idea of deuce getting the ball inside the 5.

3. Reggie had his best offensive game of the year. I was very happy with his running. He hit the holes and ran hard north-south.

4. Our wide recievers need to catch the ball, way too many drops. Henderson, Horn, and Copper were getting open and putting themselves in a position to make a play but they had way too many drops and fumbles.

5. Turnovers really hurt us, we can't turn the ball over 4 times and be -3 in this category.

6. Brees really struggled today. I think part of it was the playcalling, but he was forcing a lot of throws into tight coverage.

7. Weatherford had a rough game, only got one punt inside the 20 and that one was fair caught at the 19. He needs to do a much better job.

8. Our o-line had a rough game today. Cincy was getting way too much pressure on Drew. This was one of the few games I thought our o-line was dominated.

9. Colston going down was painful to watch. Does anyone have any news on his ankle? I really hope he's alright and ready to play next week.

IMO the biggest factor for the Saints losing the last two games is turnovers, they better correct it and soon, we go to Atlanta next week, they won't give us anything, we have to beat them to stay on top of the NFC South or close to it..
It goes without saying that the Colston injury is devastating to the team, I sure hope he's ok..
The defense scares the hell out of me, we'll have a hard time stopping the pass the rest of the season..

I'd tend to agree with most everything said here. Carolina making their surge was inevitable. But ATL and Philly lost. Like I said before, Cincy has the most potent offense we'll face all year. We have to win 4 of our next 6 though.

The Atl. & Philly loss helped but the Saints need to take care of their own business and things will workout for them, as a fan I hope that the Panthers lose every week, but they are now starting to come together at the right time it appears, if we don't start winning the panthers will be in first place..

Word from inside the dome was that it was a severely sprained ankle. They said it was a reoccurring problem that he had been dealing with for a while now, but when it got rolled....it just was a decision to try & sit him out rather than do more damage to it. Suposedly, all X-rays were negative. Whewwww!!!!!

I didn't see any expression on Colston's face when he was being carted out to the locker room but sure as hell had an expression on my face, I was like oh hell no, not Colston, we need him every game..
He did look upset, can't blame him being he's having a ROY season.

This one we have to lay at the feet of Brees today. His three picks was the difference in the game. It was virtually a 21 point turnaround.

We also need to rethink the defensive scheme. Fred Thomas was lit up like a Christmas tree today. Even "Toast" Craft played better today. The scheme needs to involve pressure. If you give an outstanding QB like Palmer the time to set up, survey the field, and throw the ball, you'll get days like this. Only pressure changes this behavior. So we need to blitz. It's not like if we blitz we'll run the risk of giving up the big play! Also the safeties needs to know who to support in pass coverage.

Some posters seem to think the season is over "We've given up the division to Carolina..." or somesuch.

Come on. We racked up 600 yards of offense today. Bush and Duece ran the ball well.

Same song as last week: "Cut out the turnovers and you win the game."

SFIAH

Super Bowl Championships: New Orleans Saints:1, Carolina:0, Atlanta Chokers: STILL ZERO

Only Atlanta choked in an unchokable situation... Life is definitely good.

Ummm well I said that we've given the division up to Carolina, and we have because they are in first by virtue of tiebreaker. Nowhere in there did I say that the season was over. Far from it. I'm one of the most optimistic fans on this board.

But I agree this loss Brees has to take the brunt of the blame. Yes the D sucked but we've known that the D has sucked for weeks, years now. Yet we have found a way to mitigate this. Does this mean that they deserve less of the blame, no. But we gave away points on offense. What we CAN'T handle is our QB throwing 3 INTs, 2 in the endzone and one returned for a TD. I don't care if we have the Baltimore Ravens D I guarantee you there is not one NFL team that will win under those circumstances.
