Saints | Colston misses practice Wednesday
Wed, 22 Nov 2006 16:46:52 -0800 New Orleans Saints WR Marques Colston (ankle) missed practice Wednesday, Nov. 22, and is questionable for the Week 12 game. Colston would be replaced by WR Devery Henderson if he is unable to play. the real test will be if he practices friday. then there is a 75 % chance they will play |

RE: ANY NEWS ON COLSTON YET??
Bit of both I think.
We need Colston for his catching skills, and our rushing game misses his presence. We need a secondary because.............. it's obvious really |

Colston practiced today with the first team offense!!! The word i got is that he is going to play. So Happy Thanksgiving and i hope that news makes you guys feel better. Also, Stecker is out about 2 weeks with an ankle, and Fred Thomas has a cast on his hand. So i dont think that bodes well for us. Thats all the news i got for now...enjoy.

I hope can play, he could have still been at the top of the league in receiving, if he had played the whole game last week.

Dont count on seeing Stecker this week. I was told he would be out this week and probably next week too. When i was told that Colston practiced, i asked if that meant he would play, and the answer i got was since he was on the field practicing with the first team offense, he will start and play the game barring some unseen setback.

Colston says he is 'a lot better'
Saints WR is still listed as questionable Thursday, November 23, 2006 By Jimmy Smith, Times - Picayune Rookie wide receiver Marques Colston did not participate in the team portion of the Saints' full-pads practice Wednesday, and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at Atlanta. Colston wore sweat pants and no pads for the workout, but said his sprained left ankle is much improved the past two days, though still nowhere near 100 percent. "Since Monday, I know I've gotten a whole lot better," Colston said. "I'm probably about 60 percent right now. But two days is a long time to get on this thing and see where I can go with it." Colston ranks second among all NFL rookies -- behind teammate Reggie Bush -- with 54 receptions this season, but has seven touchdowns, tied for third-most in the league, and has caught passes totaling 869 yards. Saints quarterback Drew Brees said Wednesday that, from his conversations with Colston, he feels good about the rookie's chances of playing against Atlanta, which has the third-worst pass defense in the league. "He tells me he feels pretty good, so that's a great sign," Brees said. "He's actually a lot further along than I thought he'd be at this point after him going down. So I'm pretty confident." Colston was injured on the Saints' third offensive play in last week's 31-16 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. He was diagnosed with a high ankle sprain. He received treatment in the Superdome locker room at halftime, and left the stadium wearing a walking boot to help reduce swelling and keep the foot immobilized. "I'm definitely feeling a lot better since the injury," Colston said. "I feel like I've been progressing at a pretty good pace. We've definitely got a long way to go. It's still up in the air. Today is only Wednesday. We'll keep chipping away and see what happens." Colston said he wasn't sure whether it was necessary that he practice on the field today in order to play Sunday. This whole thing is making me curious.
I think we all got our first taste of the "high ankle sprain" with Ricky Williams a few years ago. I remember him missing quite a few games because of it, and since then any time I hear of a player with this injury he's out for at least a couple of games. So, did Colston not have a high ankle sprain or is he going to be playing hurt despite what's being said in the media that he's 100%? Something's not right with what we're being told. It'll also be interesting to see who the Falcons assign DeAngelo Hall. Horn or Colston? |
