Billy Cundiff has signed as a kickoff specialist

Former HCHS standout Billy Cundiff has signed as a kickoff specialist with the New Orleans Saints. His first game with the 6-4 Saints will be Sunday, Nov. 26 at Atlanta.
In his last preseason game in early August with the Packers he had a 23 yard field in the third quarter and a second half kick off of 71 yards in the 17-3 loss to San Diego.
On August 17, the Green Bay Packers released the five year NFL veteran.
Cundiff, who was signed by Green Bay as a free agent in March, was limited to six games in 2005 with Dallas due to an injury.
In 53 career games with the Cowboys, Cundiff connected on 60-of-82 field-goal attempts (73.2 percent) and missed one extra-point conversion in 101 attempts. Cundiff's career-long field goal was a 56-yarder in 2005.
He holds the record (with three others) for most field goals in a game with seven against the New York Giants on Monday Night Football on Sept. 15, 2003.

Saints signed kicker Billy Cundiff.

He is expected to take over kickoffs and long field goals from 43-year-old John Carney, but is unlikely to be a fantasy option in New Orleans
ESPN's John Clayton reports Saints placekicker John Carney is expected to lose long field goals and kickoffs to Billy Cundiff.

We'd drop Carney in fantasy league immediately. Cundiff has a chance to eventually take over the starting job full time.

first Fast Freddie and now this. Trying to shore up the special Teams. Looking for who got the axe for this addition. this guy is not known for kicking thru the end zone. maybe better hang time? well shawn knows him from his time in Dallas. I would still perfer some additions from the wire on the Defensive side of things. but the kick-off have been killing us. lets hope he gets some air under it if he can not kick out of the end zone. any one seen him from his cowgirl days?
