Haz blows up!
<St. Louis Rams defensive coordinator Jim Haslett blew up on Monday during his weekly press conference over what he considered negative press coverage of his run defense. The Rams gave up 171 rushing yards, including 134 yards by running back Frank Gore, in the Rams' 20-17 win over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. The Rams now officially rank 32nd among the NFL's 32 teams in run defense with an average of 154.8 rushing yards allowed per game. Gore brings the number of opposing rushers to gain 100 or more yards against the Rams this season to nine. "I'm sick of talking about the (freaking) yardage," Haslett said. "I look at the (Indianapolis) Colts who are right beside us (in run defense), and they're 10-1. I pick up the paper every week and read about the yardage we've given up. It is what it is. All right? We haven't done well. We actually fit well, the best we've ever played, and they still had 170 rushing on us. "We're ninth (actually 10th) in the league in pass defense, we've given up four (actually five) touchdowns in the last three games. You don't write that stuff. We're fourth in the league in turnovers. >

Insanity is defined as doing the same thing over, over, and over again...and expecting a different outcome!

The reason they are 10th in pass defense, is because they are giving up so much on the ground. Teams won't pass the ball on them much when they can rush for 150+ a game. It's hard to believe haz is letting the media get to him, the guy used to be a headcoach.

This is too funny..
Haz takes a Defense (which I think has more talent than ours) and they tank. Payton takes a makeshift LB corp with a new DC (Gibbs) and we are in the top 15 in D. That just amazes the hell outta me. ...and don't forget....Venturi is in Stl w/Haz..... priceless. |

I must be the only guy out here who feels a Lil' bad for Has, after what he had to go through last year as a coach. But in the same breath, I'm just overjoyed that I'm not feeling bad about our situation, we're 8-4 and in 1st place, so to hell with the rest of the NFC.
