Saints-Cowboys has playoff implications
Kevin Hench / FOXSports.com Game of the week Saints (8-4) at Cowboys (8-4) Who would have thought back in training camp that this Week 14 matchup would have first-round bye implications for both teams? Despite being picked to finish last by just about everybody, coach-of-the-year favorite Sean Payton and MVP candidate Drew Brees have lifted the Saints from the depths of despair (3-13) to a two-game lead in the NFC South. With the Panthers and Falcons sputtering at 6-6, the division title seems almost a foregone conclusion as New Orleans sets its sights on the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye. This has to go down as one of the greatest coaching jobs in league history. As for the Cowboys, their only loss since Oct. 23 was that bizarre blocked-Mike- Vanderjagt-field-goal-Sean-Taylor-return-plus-facemask-penalty finish at Washington. Since Tony Romo took over, Dallas has been beating good teams and absolutely pounding bad teams.
