Here is the #1 reason the Saints lost today:
Too many attempts at the home run shot in the 4th qtr.
The Drew Brees interception was an attempt at getting greedy when they had a decent drive going. Then on the final drive where there should have been no reason for the #1 ranked offense in the NFL to come up short, they did. Why? Because they absolutely wasted 2 downs on trying to hit the home run shot in the end zone. For what purpose? Get the damn first down, then you've got 4 shots at the end zone with 45-plus seconds left. Instead, they try Colston in the right corner of the end zone while he was double covered, then they try Copper in the end zone on 4th and 8. I'm glad Payton has the attitude that they can score from all over the field.....but sometimes ya just gotta play smarter football and be patient. |
