Ravens defensive end Terrell Suggs notched a sack on Sunday. But it wasn't just any sack. Per a league source, Suggs' sacking prowess has triggered a $5 million salary escalator for 2007.

The increase pushes his salary to at least $5.45 million for the fifth and final year of his rookie contract. And that could spark an effort to renegotiate his deal -- and to extend him over the long term.

Suggs was the 10th overall pick in the 2003 draft. He had 9.5 sacks in the 2006 regular season, and 39 for his career.

still do not see how they can tag him without dumping so serious talent else where
