HOT NEWS FROM NOT SO HOTLANTA................
The news coming out of the bird cage is, The Atlanta Falcons has signed Louisville Cardinals Head Coach Bobby Petrino to a 5 yr $24 million contract, to somehow resurrect Mike Vick's career. Now whether it's true or not,(they're suppose to announce it Monday), I've seen a few of Louisville's games the last couple of years, and Petrino's offense seems to need a passing QB, not a running one. So my question, if it's true is, will the owner get rid of Vick and find a QB to fit the coach's system, or keep Vick and fire the coach 2 yrs from now??

And if it isn't working out and the Falcons aren't winning, then I think they'll consider letting Vick go before Petrino. Petrino was an outstanding college coach... I think he'll have success in the NFL. He's not exactly inheriting a garbage team... they have a lot of talent over there. On defense alone, if everyone is healthy next season, they'll win 9 games easily IMO.

It doesn't matter who they put there, their main focus is getting a QB from Mexico or out of Mexico I want Shcaub as our back-up

My opinions of Petrino are pretty high, especially considering the injuries that Louisville overcame this year to make it to a BCS game. IMHO, the Falcons are trying to hire an offensive-minded coach in hopes of keeping up w/ Payton. One thing Petrino and Payton have in common - both said No to Al Davis.
And don't rule out Petrino drafting Brohm if he decides Vick is not the guy. |

I believe that Vick is a restricked FA next year? Regardless I'd would expect that the Falcons would apply the frachise tag on him to give the new coach a year to asses him b/f they shopped him.

Also Vick has 6 years of service in the league. When his contract runs out he'll be unrestricted sice RFA is only for players with 4 years of service or less. You can find Vicks contract details here: http://www.falcfans.com/players/michael_vick.html SFIAH |
