Long time SAINT fan in New York.
Hello fellow Saint fans. This is my first post on the site
I've been a Saint fan since 1978. I'm a native New Yorker and my first live Saint game was at Shea stadium witnessing the teams only win in week 15 of the 1980 season. I had to make a statement about this season. This season has been the most bizarre season in that it has been so normal? What I mean is if you've been watching the Saints long enough then you have to know what I mean. ...Lets see.. Hail Mary pass by Tim Couch in last seconds vs. CLE.(Saints lose) Aaron Brooks backwards pass Culpepper and Vikings decide to go for 2pt. conversion and win game.(Saints lose) Saints lateral ball five times and score vs. Jacksonville on last play only to lose after a missed extra point. There are so many more... The point is this season is SO normal its scary- (a good scary) ----Let me know how you guys feel Tony -----soundchaser |

Hopefully Haslett took that bad luck with him.

If Karma has anything to do with football then Katrina cleansed the city of all it's bad luck. The ball has been bouncing our way and this is the Saints best shot at a Super Bowl in it's history.

One difference is we are not letting teams that aren't as good as us hang around like the Giants & Cowboys games this year. So those fluke plays don't really matter.

RE: Long time SAINT fan in New York.
Welcome Soundchaser!
I was on vacation in NYC with my best friends the week of Christmas. We made it to the Meadowlands to watch the Saints embarrass the big mouth Giants (that was awesome). We flew out of Newark Christmas morning back to N.O. and I had my knees under Mama`s table in time for Christmas dinner. I understand the strangeness of normal. To be honest, most of us here are in a state of shock... I still haven`t learned all the names of the Saints defensive starters. All i know is that we have an organization in N.O. that is committed to winning. No more playing "not to lose", but playing to win. Shocking, refreshing, and long waited for. |

Yeah, I agree SoundChaser... gloriously wierd! I actually cried when we missed that extra point in the Jacksonville game. I've healed enough to talk about it now. For all the pain and misery us Saints fans have been through.. we're definitely due!!

Welcome aboard! I agree with your statements. This year, there has been a harmony and consistency about the team. Just like a Fear Factory song says - "The infection has been removed, The soul of this machine has improved."

I'll never forget that missed extra point when we played Jacksonville, I broke quite a few things in my house after that one |

I have a story for you guys. After that play in Jax. my friends called immediately and told me how amazing that entire ordeal was...but then my friend slipped this in..."hey that play was friggin awesome man but you still have to make the extra point." I knew he was right but what were the odds?!?!? Well the rest is history and sure enough like most of you I stayed frozen in my chair for at least 10 minutes. Friends called back and were like..."man I'm sorry I said anything." I of course in total disbelief and frustration said...."What do you expect....its the Saints."
That is the attitude most of have carried year in and year out. This year, long before we were declared a good team,I said to myself you know what?!? SCREW THIS!!! I am tired of watching the Saints play and hold my breath for the eventual let down play of the game. I've been telling everyone that this year we need absolute positivity toward this team and I feel it has paid off.(Not that I am taking credit for it.) I never hear any team talking about how awesome the fans are and how much the team loves them like Saints have. I never see teams go around with their coach and shake hands all around a stadium after a game. Weird you say? I have to agree but at the same time the new found love and hope that we have all developed towards this team....it isn't as weird as it is......I almost wanna say expected. ;0) Basically what I see is they are feeding off of our enthusiasm and we are definitely feeding on their success. So please....no doubts by anyone. i believe we can win it all!! I have since like week 4...lol. Go SAINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
