Saints - The obvious players to pick are Smith, Grant, Brown, Brees, Bush, Hollis, and Deuce... but they bring it every game and perform week in week out. In order for us to win, I think we need big games from the struggling Bullocks, McKenzie, and Shanle. We have to contain Westbrook and not let Stallworth beat us deep.
Philly - Westbrook obviously... he is the majority of their offense. We need to contain Cole and Howard. Both are great putting pressure on the quarterback. We need Brown and Stinchy to contain them like they've done against Peppers and the rest of the South's elite pass rushers. As far as predicting a score, I couldn't. I think it could go either way in a blow out. I really hope we're on the winning end and it's going to be a fun game to watch. Philly's bound to lose right? |

I can't even begin to guess what's going to happen, but I think it will be an exciting, high scoring perfomance by our Saints.

The Eagles are going to have to rely on the cover-two to compensate for the loss of Shepard. That puts a linebacker on the TE, usually making the middle vulnerable. Look for Campbell and Miller to have huge games. Also, look for poor edge containment, resulting in a few Bush big plays.
Shanle/Fujita vs Westbrook. Take Westbrook out of the Eagles' effective game plan and you make that team extremely ordinary. The Saints' front 4 have been disrespected all season, and will keep Garcia inside the poket where he'll have to make plays away from Westbrook. This will be a field goal fest. The Eagles are tough in the Red Zone, so unless the Saints get over the top of their Cover-2, Carney's going to be the hero. Wild card - turnover margin. I think both teams will give at least one up. Whoever gives up the toughest turnover (in the red zone on a long drive or a return inside the red zone) will be the loser. Keep in mind. The Saints' Offense has been dreadful in the Dome this season. Ignore the SF game, in the seven other games the Offense has scored 14 tds, and several of them were meaningless in blowout losses. Red Zone efficiency at home has also been extraordinarily disappointing, as the team has almost as many turnovers as tds. This game will hinge on whether the Offense decides to show up at home. |

I've been hearing reports on Shepard's replacement, I think his name is Cole, anyway, he's supposed to be one hell of an athlete. Actually slated to replace Shepard at that corner spot. He's fast, and has a good nose for the ball, so if the reports are accurate, then it might not be a great idea to rely on him, as being a weakness.
Running the ball effectively is the best way, to win against the Eagles. Period. |

Cole is a D lineman Hood is his replacement, and he is pretty good (could start on many teams), so I don't think we should really consider him too much of a drop off.

RE: Predictions - Eagles v. NO 8pm EST Fox
I got a chance to see the NFL Replay of the week 6 Saints/Eagles game.
The first half was totally dominated by the Saints. The defense really only had two bad plays the whole game: the long TD to Brown (good design on the play coupled with poor tackling) and the interior screen to LJ Smith. The Saints offense totally owned the Philly defense in that game. From beginning to end there was absolutely nothing Philly could do to stop the march of General Brees. Joe Horn was a total stud. It reminded me that he is still the #1 receiver on this team. And Reggie had not yet hit his groove. You could see him dancing and stuttering the backfield on runs. He doesn't do that anymore. The Saints defense knows how to defend guys like Garcia. Have the ends contain the pocket and get a push up the middle. Garcia is one of those short QBs that needs to be in space to make dangerous plays. The defense will Vick/Romo him with the same results. The Saints' offense will cut through Philly's defense just like they did the first drive of the Panthers game. I'm so confident that the Saints will win the game by double digits, that I finally decided not to go to the game and conserve my cash to buy a NFC championship ticket, be it either in the New Orleans or in Chicago. I plan to be road tripping the weekend of the 20th. A very confident SFIAH The game will only be close |
Super Bowl Championships: New Orleans Saints:1, Carolina:0, Atlanta Chokers: STILL ZERO
Only Atlanta choked in an unchokable situation... Life is definitely good. |

I have confidence that Payton will have the gameplan to beat the Eagles defense soundly. Offensive execution is another thing. If our guys get behind we gotta keep them plugged into the Dometricty that will be on overload. This might be our last home game this season and the team has been carring us all year so just in case they stumble a bit we gotta be ready to shock'em back into it with our noise!
