Good Day, Bad Day for Benson
Yesterday Tom Benson announced Coach Mike Neu will Coach the New Orleans Voodoo and did some PR about the club. Later in the day his brother Jerome, 74, who suffered from a lung ailment passed away. Please keep the Benson family in your prayers.
From New Orleans Saints.com... Late this afternoon, Jerome J. Benson, 74, brother of Saints' Owner Tom Benson passed away after battling a long lung illness. He passed away in Tucson, Arizona. "We are all very saddened by the death of Jerome," said Tom Benson. "I just spoke with him yesterday and he was so very excited about getting back to New Orleans and attending training camp this year. He battled for over a year with this complication and now we all hope and pray that he is in a better place." Jerome Benson was the former president of the Benson Management Company, which ran more than thirty-three franchises, retiring in the last few years. He currently owned the Honda Town Dealership in New Orleans East. His connection with the Saints stemmed from his early days as an original investor along with Tom Benson in 1985 until recently where he served as advisory director on the Saints Board of Directors. |

Good Day, Bad Day for Benson
My condolences to Mr. Benson. I know we all have had our opinions of the man both good and bad but make no mistake, even though he\'s a business man 1st, his heart belongs to the city of New Orleans. If it didn\'t he would have moved this franchise elsewhere a long time ago.
I left New orleans over 20 years ago but it still has a special place in my heart. Sometimes I wish it didn\'t, but the fact is its a very special city with a unique culture and a pride rarely seen in other cities. The Benson family are true New Orleans. The passing of his brother is a sad day for the Benson family and New Orleans. But in true New Orleans tradition, we should celebrate his life with as much or more passion than the sorrow and sadness of his departure. We lost one of our own guys. |
Whether we agree or disagree; its all for Him.
