Freeney UFA

Dwight Freeney, UFA, Indianapolis Colts Freeney originally signed for seven years in 2002, but having reached certain incentive levels in his contract has voided the final two seasons, making him a free agent this off season. Freeney had posted double-digit sack totals in each of his four seasons coming into 2006, having forced 23 fumbles in that time. In 2006, Freeney battled injury to end the regular season with just five-and-a-half sacks, but four fumbles forced. He’s one of the top pass rushers around and plays with an incredible motor. With some of the best speed at his position, many teams will be lining up for a shot at a player that can apply pressure on the quarterback quite often. http://www.footballsfuture.com/2007/...eagentsDL.html |

If we lose Charles Grant to free agency, he would be one heck of a replacement. I don't see the Colts not negotiating something with him, though.

RE: Freeney UFA
I remember reading and hearing about that last year. Word was that Freeney wanted highest paided DE in the NFL money. The COLTS couldnt afford it then, and even with the added room to the cap they still wont be able to.
Going to be an intresting off season for a few teams this year. |

I've like Freeney since his Syracuse days, but I'd be concerned about the $$$ required to bring him to New Orleans. Also, I'm not convinced he's a good enough run defender to warrant that big of a deal. But those forced fumbles numbers do look awful nice.
