A defensive Reggie Bush

I reallize that Reggie's don't come along everyday, but that's what I think this defense needs. A ball hawk in the middle, that can lead this defense. I have been thinking safety, for a while now, and I believe a playmaker at that position, would really open up the rest of the defense. Like a Shawn Dawkins type guy. I honestly believe that he is the reason that defense is good almost every year.

How many teams in the first round, would look to draft the top safety? I'm not even sure who the top safety in the draft is. I think he's from LSU, but I'm not sure. There's another guy out of Texas, that's supposed to be in the upper tier as well.

I'm thinking, if there are no CBs, or LBs left, worth a 1st round pick, WHEN we pick, then we should go safety as our priority. A good safety, will certainly shore up, a weak secondary. That and getting rid of Fred Thomas.

What's popular is not always right, and what's right is not always popular.....

RE: A defensive Reggie Bush

Top safety in the draft is Laron Landry, and yes he's out of LSU. He'll be long gone by the time our pick comes. That Texas safety is Michael Griffin, and some mock drafts I've seen (FoxSports) have us picking him up. Not a huge drop off.

I've also seen mocks having us take Paul Posluzny out of Penn State. "Poor man's AJ Hawk" is how people are describing him, with high character. He'd be a perfect fit for our team.

What do you know about Reggie Nelson out of Florida? I have seen mock drafts that have him as the first safety to be picked up, before Landry. If this is true, there is a great chance Landry could fall to us.

reggie nelson is a great safety. he is a ball hawk! in floridas system he played a deep center field. he is a big hitter and stopped many big plays wit a break up or int. also versital enough to play corner but better when allowed to read and react!
