Have we discussed London Fletcher?
He could be the guy in the middle we need for next year. I don't want to put all of our hopes in a great MLB falling to us in the draft. I would rather draft BPA so to get Fletcher and maybe Bly or Clements would be great also, and then we would be set. I also like the idea of getting a BIG DT to help out.

RE: Have we discussed London Fletcher?
london would be a good stop gap messure Just like edwards but you can not look at either one as a fixture for the position. They are just to old. Mentor to a younger drafted player is alot of money to pay. I think we are going to have to wait till draft day to find out. After round one we will know if we need to get on the phone for a FA stop gap player. next year you have a kid named
Jasper Brinkley, LB, South Carolina A middle linebacker with 14.5 tackles for loss and 5 sacks to go along with his 107 tackles is quite an accomplishment in the SEC |

I'm sorry but what is wrong with Danny Clark? And didn't we draft Fincher to take over eventually at MLB. I still can't understand why Clark wasn't starting last year. It remains a mystery. We need CB, DT, CB , DT in draft and free agency. WR and backup QB would be nice as well.

I am all for picking up an Edwards or Fletcher. I don't think they are too old. I just want football player that can still play for 2-3 years is the price is right. A veteran at MLB would be perfect, like a vet a qb on defense. We can still draft a MLB to groom and compete for a job. To me, Fincher won't pan out. Looked bad in preseason and he doesn't show me anything. Clark is good against the run and thats it. He came up big in goal line situations last year, but he is just a good run stuffing middle linebacker. I think Fletcher and Edwards are more complete linebackers than Clark is.
For me it's all about winning football games and putting the guys that give us the best chance to win. If the guy can still play, I say give him a shot. |

Danny Clark was the best tackler on the Raiders D two years ago. How do you know all he can do is stop the run when he never got a chance to play. He was a beast in goal line situation and special teams but I never saw him play on passing downs so I really can't do anything but look at his film from the Raiders and he looked pretty good for them.

I heard when we signed them that was the knack on this guy. If he were so good, I am sure he could have beat out Simoneau. If you can look at the film for the Raiders then you can tell everyone how he plays the pass if you have good judgement. But he is a free agent so who knows? All I know is we need a MLB bad and if Clark can fit the bill and prove me wrong, then so be it.

The only thing i havent mentioned Fletcher is that the Lions and Skins both want him and i dont want to get into any kind of bidding war for him with the Redskins. Donnie Edwards is an instant upgrade and would immediately be our best LB.

Redskins: $100,000 over the cap
Let the bidding war begin and fold our cards when the pot gets big. they win Fletcher yet loss out on Clements, The other big ticket FA they want to bid on. The Skins will have to do some serious cutting to get back to the cap nimbers. Lions are a bigger threat than the skins. |

Fletcher is one of those overacheiving small college undrafted free agents that nobody thought would make it in the NFL, and he's still pretty good. I think he'd definitely have the work ethic and poise that Payton looks for. He was such a solid player on that Rams championship team.
