Let this talk begin............
*disclaimer: I have been a Brees fan since his days at Purdue. I watched in awe as we fought to sign him, and I used every ounce of my power arguing with many on this exact forum that he is the best QB for us, and will succeed with the Saints. I don't want Brees gone, and I cringe at the thought of him going down to injury, but.......
..............I really believe we need a young guy to learn under Drew Brees, this means drafting a talented rookie. The NFL is so unpredictable that we just don't know if Brees is going to get hurt, leave, or worse yet retire(This one is years off, but it WILL happen one year) So why not start thinking abou it now. I want you guys to debate why your guy should be the one we draft and in which round. So here is mine: with our fourth round selection I would like to see Kevin Kolb QB Houston. He stands 6'3" 220 pounds is elusive and has a cannon. He plays inconsistently at times, but with our offensive scheme I think he could thrive. Payton is a QB coach and I think he would salivate at the chance to build the next Tom Brady(meaning late pick furture Hall of Famer) I believe that in 4 or 5 years Kolb will become a feature QB and make us all extremely happy. |

Fourth rounder gets a 3 year deal usually. If in those three years he shows he is a possible starter wouldn't he go into the contract year wanting a big bump in pay? I see way to much cap money tied into two QB's after 3 years. I think we need a bit more of a project. the kid has the tools

Matt Moore of Oregon State is not getting a Combine invite or more respect from scouts. He led his team to multiple 30-plus point performances on offense, and pulled out close victories over U.S.C. (J.D. Booty), Missouri in the Sun Bowl (31-54-1, 356 yds and 4TD's; game MVP), Oregon and Hawaii (Colt Brennan). He also threw over 180 straight passes without an interception during the 2006 season. He has been coached by a former N.F.L. head coach, Mike Riley. He is 6'4" and admittedly a little light at 193 lbs. But putting on weight is one of the easiest things in a player to change. He seems like a good 2nd day pick to me.
