Draft day
Ok, with Simmons signed at MLB, let's say we sign Hood at CB, and Hamlin at S, now with all that in our defense, which way do we go in the draft?
I mean, I guess a headhunting nose tackle, would probably be first priority then, either that or receiver if there is anyone worth taking still available. It just seems to me, that maybe Peyton is shoring up our defensive needs, before the draft comes around. A little more range maybe? I like what we are doing in FA, don't get me wrong, I'm just wondering what Day 1 of the draft is going to look like, if we get these players. |

RE: Draft day
I still think I'd go cornerback. Hood is very good yes, and I would be extremely excited if we got him; but the Saints need help at that corner, and they need some youth at the position. Youth at cornerback is somehting we haven't had in a long time. A lot of people are really impressed with Chris Houston out of Arkansas.
However, if Willis is there, I'd take him no questions asked. |

RE: Draft day
you should always be looking to upgrade EVERY position... other then RB i dont think there is a position that we couldnt stand to add a good young player into... im sure some people on the board will say DE as well but other then smith and grant our DEs leave something to be desired and we could use some depth there as well...
we are pretty thin at QB, WR, TE, DE, DT CB and LB.. depth is a need of our team plus at the 27 spot we should really be hoping someone falls to us or just take the BPA |

RE: Draft day
McKenzie isn't getting any younger nor is Hollis Thomas or Brian Young. We don't have a complement to Colston at the 2 yet either. We could go in numerous directions... take the BPA at the time.

The FO is trying to fill holes now so when it comes to the draft, you can take the best player on your board and just start stockpiling the most talented young players for your roster. They could go TE, WR, CB, DT, S, LB...just about anything...but no real "needs".

If available, I wouldn't mind seeing the Saints take QB Chris Leak on day 2 of the draft. He could easily be the top backup to Brees in a couple of years.

Hamlin SIGNED W/ARIZONA
So this thought is dead DT Anthony Adams CB James will more than likely sign and be a starter. He was a starter before and has been healthy as of recently. CB Hood has been all in the Ny Giants eggsack and probaly wont sign early if he does. If he would he and James will probaly compete for the #2 spot at CB. TE Eric Johnson WR Brandon Stokely That makes it all easier doesn't it. I wouldn't mind seeing us take Willis, sap I'd love it! If he isn't there I expect us to take a CB, like Ross, McCauley, or Houston. Then keep going from there. I like DeOssie in the third, pretty great MLB |

we are not going to fill the holes with gold that for sure just look at the FA that have visited. Money is being watched closely. That is not a bad thing concidering the fa we will have in 2008. so good players at a good price is a good thing. I am surprised at how many players that are nothing more than average getting star contracts. man what a difference a year makes
