Saints | Team signs Patten
Thu, 12 Apr 2007 16:11:45 -0700 The NFL Network reports the New Orleans Saints signed free-agent WR David Patten (Redskins). Terms of the deal were not disclosed. kffl Disagree with nothing special. He is a good addition for the young WR. He will see the field but it's his work ethics that will help them out. When he was with New England he was the best example of a team player. Talk about a player that can read a defenses. He is one the main reasons the Pats won so many superbowls. Go back an watch those seasons. If he can do 50% of that on the field, as part time #3 and work as a mentor to the young guys, he is worth every penny. Trust Me. |

I like Patten. He is a hard working, team player. His role will mostly be mentoring our young receivers.

Good pick-up
Will help Colston development for atleast 1 more year, and push Devery to catch more passes

Good pickup. Leaves things open, in the event that we do not pickup a receiver in the draft.

"Terms not disclosed" when speaking of a vet with SB ring means "we got him for cheap and can cut him with no cap hit should he not pan out".
He may pan out as a possession receiver. |

He's no Joe...I think he will help the young guys develop, I would expect the Saints to only draft one WR now that they have Patten.

This actually isnt a bad pickup.....lets take a moment and look at who has been tossing the ball around with the redskins the past couple of years. That might shed some light on things a little bit when you think about the saints bringing Patten onto the team.

Huge question mark.
He had star potential, but has been invisible for 2 years. I'm guessing that his contract is incentive-laden with a near minimum base, probably even with a roster bonus. We'll see, but I'd rather have had Terrell |
