Saints - Justin Harrell - 6043, 300, 5.10, Tennessee
Harrell has outstanding size and strength for the position He is an athletic run stopper who plays low, with good balance and leverage. He shows outstanding explosiveness and agilety at the snap and can eliminate rush lanes. Fills the gaps and can clog up the LOS versus the run. Can be difficult to move once he establishes position. Can split double teams and make plays in the backfield. He can move laterally to make stops down the line as well. Long arms. Can pressure the pocket but isn’t an elite pass rusher. Despite his height, he gets good leverage and shows excellent balance. Versatile, tough and high effort guy on and off the field and is a real leader of men. Best suited to a two-gap scheme including 3-4 Defensive End. The biggest knock on Harrell is his technique. Doesn’t always shed well. He's gotten by on pure strength, athletic ability, and drive thus far, but to be effective at the next level he'll have to better understand offensive schemes and how to use his hands. Out for season with bicep injury 09/16/06. Justin Harrell was on his way to challenging Alan Branch for the first DT selected in the 2007 NFL Draft before a biceps injury ended his season. He's the consummate team leader and a gutty performer that he postponed his surgery for a week so that he could take the field and play against Florida.Terrific upside. |
