Who DONT you want?
Assuming the Colts dont match the offer for Jason David, who do you not want the Saints to select in the first round?
Being realistic, the options are Ross, Houston, Harrell, Posluzny, Timmons, Jarrett, Bowe, and Ben Grubbs. I will go on record as saying that i am NOT at all a fan of Chris Houston. I will also say that i believe Ross will be gone. I think the picks that make the most sense are Harrell, Jarrett, and then Ben Grubbs. I do not want Chris Houston regardless of how bad our CB's are. |

Totally agree with you there. Houston had a great combine, and everyone makes a big deal about how he held Robert Meachem to two catches (one of which went for a TD) or Dwayne Jarret to just 35 yards (even though Jarret was injured). He got torched playing South Carolina. He is way too boom or bust for my liking.
I do kind of believe he'll be the 3rd CB taken, though, because lots of teams are going to fall in love with his crazy numbers. I would love Ross or Harrell or Posluszny if any of those guys were around. |

I dont know what to think about Houston. You have to love the numbers and the performances against some of the best WRs and QBs in the nation last season. However, he is noy a guy like Revis whose stats arent all there because teams avoided his side the field. Not to say he was picked on by any means but given the times he was thrown against I would expect more plays made. Im also concerned about the Ahmad Carrol comparisons. However, at 27 I really wouldn't be displeased with any of the guys you named.
The only guy I dont want is Greg Olsen. I know Miami has a great reputation for turning out great TEs but this guy can not block and refuses to block. Ala Jeremy Shockey but much much less talented. I think Eric Johnson will do find and we can find a better TE prospect later in the draft if needed. |

I honestly would take any one of them.
I wouldn't take Olsen because I think he's overrated. And what BR said... though I would definately take him in the second if he's there. |

Who to take??
After all the hype surrounding the combine, I think we have to look at what the Saints HAVEN'T tried to upgrade this offseason: D LINE.... I want to make the run D and pass rush much better. Our run defense broke down alot last year because we were on the field quite a bit.
Notice how our offense could never really get rolling in Chicago last year. Thanks to the front line of the Bears, the Saints had guys in Drew's grill before he could make a read.... I want D Line. They're out there. Go get em. Shore up the run stuffers and i think there is talent at CB in the 2nd round.... (wright-UNLV) werd. |

I'm kinda down on Poz. He seems like a system player that looked good at Penn st in the Big 10 but dosen't have the athleticism to take that level of play to the pros. Also, we have added some deapth at LB, so it's not our biggest area of need. But what do I know?
The closer we get to Saturday, the more I want a DT. It hurt watching Hollis Thomas suck wind during the NFC Championship game and we were undermanned in the DL rotation. I just can't wait for Saturday: mix up some bloody mary's, watch footage of the Jets screwing everthing up, watch some Reggie highlights, see Matt Millen pick, marvel at Mel Kiper's hair...I love draft day. |

that is exactly why i put harrell on the top of the list. I think he makes the most sense given that hollis is 34 and Young is 30...and Whitehead is 34. he makes the most sense.
One more thing on Houston, he led the SEC in pass interference calls last year. And i am sure you all know that the NFL is even more strict when it comes to DB's making contact. Please stay away from him. |

I'll jump on the bandwagon with Olson and Houston.
We simply do not need a TE bad enough to go # 1 on. With Houston, there are too many other consistent, non-gambling DB's available. Even if we go BPA, we've had a productive off-season. If we get David, it's an "A" - Simmons, KK, Patten, Mare, keeping Stinchcomb Without him it's a "B-" |
