Pompei predicts the NFC South
I tend to agree with Billy. I don\'t see how the saints record will be anything less than last year. That goes without ANY improvements to last years squad. But we made several changes most notibly to the defense at key positions. Yes I still wish for a \"QUALITY\" MLB but we have what we have and even that is \"potentially\" better than last years. Where exactly did we digress??
Offense - scored many points last year and improved this off season so that makes it look like we got better there. Special Teams - We are/were/will be the best special team any team has...PERIOD! Defense - struggled last year I will admit. We got rid of some slow talent and improved team speed as well as added lots of depth. I see our defense at the worst no less than last year but I feel they improved. I\'m still trying to figure out how, with a easier schedule included, just how we digressed to 7-9????? This guy is NUTS! |

Pompei predicts the NFC South
There is no way that we will lose 9 games this year. I really cant see us losing more than 5 and I predict that we only lose 4. I know that I wear my heart on my sleeve, but come on this is ridiculous.

I agree with coastalkid. You have to be an idiot to think we will have a losing record. We have upgraded on both sides of the ball and added quality depth at the necessary positions. I am still a little worried about the backup running back situation, but hopefully we will address this issue before the season starts. I am predicting a very close NFC South race and I believe if we don\'t win the division we will be a lock for the wild card.

Pompei predicts the NFC South
Right after the draft I predicted 10 and 6. I would love to go 12 and 4.
But to predict 7 and 9 is ridiculous - this guy is definitely smoking bad grass. But that\'s good. Hopefully people will listen to this guy. And that would only help the team, not hurt it. \"come to New Awlin\'s, don\'t prepare, they\'re pushovers anyway.. take it easy....\" Unfortunately, NFL coaches aren\'t as stupid as this guy is. |

Oh yeah... Well did any of you predict the Saints to go 7-9 after the 2000 season? Same situation... another year under a new system, more talent (they added Deuce that year), blah blah blah... same situation... or at least very similar and they ended up 7-9.
Now, I don\'t agree with this guy either, but it is NOT outside the realm of possibility. What if Brooks can\'t fully come back? What is Ruff is a dud. What is Rodgers get hurt. What if Allen, Sullivan, Kenny Smith, and Mitchell (all the first year starters) can\'t play like they\'re supposed to. The bottom line right now guys is that this team still has a TON of question marks, it\'s in the toughest division in football, and it chokes down the stretch.... don\'t expect to see many analysts predicting 11-5 or 12-4 and first place in the division for this team. I\'d say 9-7 and second is about the best you\'re gonna get. |

Your prediciton is only a guess as are all others. Why be so negitive towards a team that you seem to like so much? I think any self respecting fan thinks their team will go to the superbowl every year. If what your saying is so ovious, should the Saints players be thinking the samething? Should Tampa have thought that last year. Or the Patriots a couple of years back. If not now when? [Edited on 28/6/2003 by BillyCarpenter1] [Edited on 28/6/2003 by BillyCarpenter1] |

Winning is why we are here. I see alot of post actually seeming satisfied that we won\'t be worse than last year. I picked us to be 9-7. I still think we have alot of questions. But to be honest each team has questions seeing nothing serious has happened with the season. As fans and as the team all should be prepared(justly) for the comments regarding late season declines of two years. The point is each preseason, you review your weaknesses and addreess them. I hope we have. I hope Ruff is a surprise. I hope Brooks grows up. I even hope they find a place for Stinkycomb. Also minus a key WR loss, the Panthers are the underdog. Really look at what they have gained.....I thought they did a fine job.
Deuce is good.receivers good..qb decent...Defense........hmmmm. After ateam has soooooo many losing seasons it appears that they have reached their watermark.....getting past that has to happen this season. [Edited on 28/6/2003 by subguy] |

Billy... there\'s a big difference between being a REALIST and a PESSIMIST. Let me ask you a question... should the 2002 Saints have made the playoffs? Damn right.... but did they? And that\'s the difference... I don\'t give a sh!t what this team SHOULD do. I care what they will do...
You can talk all you want about how stacked we are, blah blah blah. If you reread my post you\'ll see that I didn\'t make any predictions about our record this year. I said that you will not see many \"experts\" predicting us being much better than 9-7. I mean for christ\'s sake man... you just threw out numbers like 15-1... can you please say something intelligent? Please. Make a statement that is based in some fundamental football knowledge and an opinion based in reality... please... once you do that I\'ll continue to respond to you. |
