There are also rumors that he didn't have a particularly good interview. Don't remember where I heard that, but I'm gonna check. If you notices teams with fairly successful passing games, you have a possession guy, a speedy down the field guy and good complimentary wr's off the bench. Right now, we have a great possession guy in Colston, a great off the bench threat in Henderson, a reliable off the bench, dependable (albeit injury prone) vet wr in Patten. Copper is also dependable and a nice option off the bench. For me, if we are going to take a WR that high, I would rather it be on a guy like Ginn Jr or S.Smith. Fast guys who stretch the field and are a threat to bust it on every play they touch it. Bowe is not that nor will he ever be.
Because he has great hands and good size. A Bowe, Colston, and Henderson trio would be difficult to defend... pick your poison basically. Colston is more than capable to stretching the field as is Bowe who isn't exactly a snail. However, my favorite receiver in this draft is Steve Smith... a USC guy I might add *cough*. I wouldn't mind us adding him either. But if it was Bowe or Smith, I honestly don't know who I would pick. In Payton we trust.

The Colts get the Saints original fourth round pick...by rule, you have to give up the pick that is yours..you cannot use picks obtained in trade and it is not negotiable. So it is indeed our last pick in the 4th round. You heard from me that Bowe did not interview well with the Saints. That is straight from Payton and Curtis Johnson. They still may take him if he is by ahead of everyone else on their board but dont count on it. And 4 years for a 24 year old corner with 3 years starting experience is not too long at all...and with the rate CB's are getting paid these days, thats kind of a bargain when you consider that the majority of the money is coming in the first year of the deal, not the back end of it. It was structured that way so the Colts couldnt match it and it worked out for the Saints.

It's all in the reflexes.

I think that Bowe fits quite well in our offense. I agree that he is not a burner who can stretch the field. And in your assessment, I feel like Henderson is the speedy down the field guy and Bowe is another big body that can go across the middle and make plays. Also, his great willingness and ability to block can not be overlooked or ignored. I agree he has cases of the dropsies sometimes but did improved last year over his junior year performance and could continue to improve.

I see your point of getting a stretch the field guy but Smith is definetly not that guy. In fact, he is known as more of a precise route runner and possession receiver and not a big play, home run threat. He does not always play as fast as his combine time. Not to say I wouldn't mind at all having Smith, but hes not a vertical specialist by any means.

The difference between Bowe and Smith seem to be that Smith runs better routes but Bowe has bigger size. I dont mind us getting either of them.

I agree although I can't back it up. It does make sense that we'd have to trade the 4th round pick that is/was originally ours - not any 4th rd pick we have.
