Our starting D
With agreements made Thursday, Jason David and Charles Grant...
I starte to put the pieces together. Here are our starters LDE - Charles Grant - W/ Will Smith, a tandem as good as it gets on the end in the league DT- Hollis Thomas - Not bad, but aging DT- Bryan Young - High motor guy who at this point in his career would be best served (and would best serve the team) rotating with a younger player RDE - Will Smith - Perrennial Pro Bowler? SLB - Scott Fujita - Stable, smart MLB - Mark Simoneau - If Simmons can contribute, this will be a our best sub WLB - Scott Shanle - Team showed their love, and tape shows he can play. Break out season in '08? LCB - Mike Mackenzie - I Still consider him a top 10 CB in the league. Had a nack for making hte big play in '07 SS- Roman Harper - Excited to see this guy play again. He started well before the injury. sky is the limit FS - Josh Bullucks - Misses too many plays for my liking. But he's young and capable. Kase's addition to the position will make bullucks better RCB - Jason David - Starter from the Super Bowl Champions and he's 24. Love our secondary right now before the draft. If we keep Thomas, that means Gibbs can pick from Anwar Phillips (good young talent), Jaon Craft and Freddy T as a nickel back DL - Lake, Cooper and Whitehead are decent but we can improve with a young talented player here. LB - Need the best player available to make this a solid unit WE can always get more talented on this side of the ball. |
The weather is always 72 degrees and perfect, in the Dome

I would really like to pick up a monster DT in the draft, at some point. Big, but quick, so Hollis won't be getting all of the double teams, all the time. Grant also needs to work on getting to the outside alot quicker. I guess with upgrades at LB, maybe he won't have to worry about it as much. But I know this.... I WANT MORE TURNOVERS THIS SEASON. We didn't get enough last year. I still like the idea, of a ball hawk FS, in the draft, maybe in the first round even. Playmakers, that's what this defense lacked last season.

That defense looks great, but obivously they might want some young depth(which is what the draft is for when the team is already good), they might get one player, for each section of the defense(DL, LB, and CB).

Believe it or not I want Walter Thomas somehow to spell our defensive tackles. As long as it's free agent or very low pick. If this guy can play 25% of the plays he makes the line that much better.

Walter Thomas. That is a stretch. Weight (pun) you may be right, but he does not have a great deal going for him really. But did you did say as a FA.
I am having a deep problem finding a good DT that will be there for the Saints. So let me go on a flyer. Utes man Soliai, and lots of caoching! |

If he can make it through training camp in Jackson, he can make it in the dome. remember, I was in Jackson last year for 3 weeks, if I can take that heat then so can he. Besides, he'd get paid more than me. All I'd want from him is 20 to 25% of the defensive plays.

Nice lineup but , you kind of forgot about a couple of starters. First, we didn't sign MLB Brian Simmons to ride the bench and second, we didn't sign S Kevin Kaesviharn and his ball hawking skills to ride the pine. I think that will be our starting line up with the exception of K.K. at one of the safety position and Simmons at MLB.

We definately need to get younger at DT and get some depth at LB/CB/OL/WR. Our starting roster right now looks good on paper, we just need some depth and we should be straight. I think it's great that we don't have to draft someone this year and throw them into the limelight. We have a good team.
