It's a depth pick. The coaching staff obviously thinks we are set on D. So be it. I will trust them until they prove not to be trustworthy.

Well, we needed depth there too. I just hope this is the right guy
I am not as worried about LB: Simmons, Simoneau, Shanle & Fujita will rotate through the top 3, with Fincher, Evans & Faulk backing up I am scared to DEATH over DT-our rotation got older, and we still have no depth. We weren't exactly great against the run to begin with. |

was the pick i thought they make but they got beat to the punch. seems like that happened alot wright is a good example. I bet that is the reason we traded back. |

Does anyone think that perhaps some of these draft choices are being made based on what the rest of the NFC South is drafting (mainly defense)? Are we planning on just outscoring the NFC South next season?

I'm still trying to figure out why many people are saying we need so much at linebacker. I know our linebackers aren't the greatest, but there is a lot of depth now with the addition of Simmons and Faulk. Add them to Shanle, Fujita, Simoneau, maybe Polley if he's healthy, and Fincher, and you've got a pretty good rotation of linebackers there. I can understand DT being needed, though. Hollis Thomas had a pretty good year last year, but can he keep it up? Brian Young benefitted from Thomas, Grant, and Smith getting double-teamed on various plays. I'm curious to see what Antwan Lake can do with more PT, and is Leisle every really going to contribute? I would have liked to see someone else come in, but we still have the June cuts to come. We'll see what transpires.

Makes sense to me. They want to ensure that the offense 3-4 years from now will still be #1. They prefer to address their defense through free agency, which works for us because we need to win NOW. 4th and 5th round defensive picks aren't going to help us do that.
