Bobaganoosh Got a Question for You.
Got any other info on the street FA or practice squad players from 06 that the Saints are high on, that we have not talked about? There has to be more than Boykin.

roumor from another sight is saying we are:
"Saints are close to inking Keyshawn" A good friend/ reliable source/ my cousins sister plumber type of source. Anything to this? |
John Clayton from ESPN said on SC last night that the only team that Keyshawn "could" realistically play for at this point in his career is the Saints but nothing more was followed up.
He says that KJ could get maybe a mil with a mil signing bonus if the the Saints were interested. John also said KJ wanted to play for a team with a realistic chance to go deep into the playoffs and a proven quarterback that will utilize him. ...and it should be told that just because Clayton mentioned this is no reason that the team has expressed any interest. |
Is there any room on the roster for Keyshawn and his, well, "Keyshawn-ness"??
Is he a better option than Patten? If he could get 70 catches from Delhomme, he could easily get 70 from Drew...? Overall---- Would he make us better.. |
This would be a good move on our part.
|
KJ seems to have matured the last couple of years.(Cowboys & Panthers) Coach Payton does have a history with KJ and has a penchant for big receivers. I could see the Saints signing him to a 1 year deal, to see how it works out
|
I havent heard any other names other than Boykin in regards to last years street FAs. I also havent heard anything regarding Keyshawn. thats not to say the Saints arent interested. I do know that yesterday the Saints signed Will Poole. I dont know if you guys remember him, CB from USC a couple years back. Drafted by the Dolphins in the 2nd round i think. Tore up his knee...but the saints signed him to come in for the rookie minicamp pretty much as a tryout. We'll see if he can cut it or if he just lost a step after the injury.

what about willie evens...you know the SEC sacs leader two years ago outta Mississippi State?

Very very true. Also, dont forget that with Keyshawn you are getting hands down the best blocking receiver in the league. In our offense with the speed of Meachem, Henderson, and Bush, a WR that can block like Keyshawn only further enhances the big play potential. Now on either side of the field if one of our speedsters gets the ball in their hands and a block from Colston or Johnson on the corners, there isnt a man left on the field that can catch our speedsters. If the price is right, I think it is a terrific move. |
Hines Ward might have something to say about that.
|
I just don't see it. How many WR's do we have now? What about his ego? Where are we going to keep that massive thing? To get him on the roster, you'd have to cut one or two of the following:
Copper Beer Man Patten |
I find it hard to believe that Michael Lewis makes this team regardless of whether or not we sign Keyshawn. I just think his time has run out. the same can be said for Rob Pettiti and Aaron Stecker...and possibly Fred Thomas and Rodney Leisle.

As far as Patten, we could get Keyshawn for about a quarter of a mill more, so that one is a no-brainer. Jones would be a longshot. Imagine Colston and Keyshawn starting, with Meachum working his way ahead of Johnson mid season, and then using Henderson as a deep threat. God, think of the space they would open up for Reggie and Deuce. |

How did the KJ thread spill over to here??????????
You never have enough players. Sign any, all and cut away. just keep the best. If I know them or not. I do not care. I just want the best they can get. I will only get mad if we do not win. Yes as a Saints fan I have spent my life mad and unhappy, but loyal. This year has been so nice. Slice and dice away. Just win baby. JUST WIN |
Wow Willie Pool. That one slipped pass me.
now that may turn out to be a nice addition if the knee job holds up. |
