Sloan to be ready..........
no doubt in my mind that sloan was another wesley walls......however, he has taken some serious beatings.......i\'d be thrilled to see him come back just half of what he is capable of.........at 100%, the saints will have the offense many teams druel about. a good tight end really opens up the field, a great one wrecks havoc on it.....smitty

Sloan to be ready..........
I\'m not as high on Sloan as some others but I think he can play. We have Sloan, Conwell, and Boo Williams. Each one of them brings something to the table. If one of them doesn\'t put up respectable numbers this year, then I\'m going to have to think that the coaches are at fault some kind of way
If Boo Williams has improved this year, it will be iinteresting to see him in on passing downs. He is the fastest of all the tightends. You would have Joe Horn, Donte, Pathon lined up at wide receiver and then Boo possibly covered by a linebacker in the middle of the field. I think that match-up could be exploited more times than not. And don\'t forget about Duece coming out of the back field as a receiver himself. The coaches have so much talent to work with on offense this year. We have the size and power on the offensive line to be physically dominating and the speed at the skill positions to cause a lot of match-up problem for the opposing teams secondary. Come pre-season, I hope to see a lot of balls thrown to the tightends regaurdless of who is on the field. [Edited on 5/7/2003 by BillyCarpenter1] |

Sloan to be ready..........
Another year in our system along with the addition of Conwell and we may have one best TE groups we\'ve had in a long time. Especially if Boo improves as expected. Early reports say that Hilton kid has looked very good so far. I saw where he was ranked as high as 6th best TE on some NFL scouts boards. Does Rasby make the team now? |
Whether we agree or disagree; its all for Him.

Sloan to be ready..........
I\'m surprised no one is excited about Conwell, especially after all the damage he\'s done to this team over the years. I think he will undoubtedly be the best receiving TE we\'ve got. He\'s had over 400 yards receiving each of the last two years with the Rams and he was hurt both years.
I see Sloan as just another one on a long list of Saint TE\'s who had all the talent in the world but never materialized. I have visions of conwell outstretched making these crazy one-handed grabs a la Hoby Brenner... Oh, and the Rams even let Conwell run the ball from time to time... and set up in the backfield as a FB. The guy is an incredible athlete. |

I\'m extremely fired up about Conwell !!! Note to Turley: If New Orleans was SO bad, why does one of the classiest veterans in the league leave ST Louis to come to New Orleans for only slightly more money? |

Just the fact we signed Conwell tells me how much faith the coaches have in Sloan.
I think no matter what tight end we have, they won\'t play a big part in the receiving game. There\'s only one ball and we have a lot of great receivers. Including Duece, who should have a lot more balls thrown his way this year. |

I bet you\'ll be surprised. I can definitely see our TE\'s with 30 or 40 catches a piece... we desperately need a middle threat and why risk getting Deuce killed by a LB when you can throw it to a guy that can crush a LB? Yeah, Deuce will be more involved in the passing game, but not a ton more.
I agree that our TEs COULD be the best in football if they all play up... I guess we shall see. Honestly, our defenses problem this year could be that our O scores too fast. Horn, Stallworth, Pathon, Lewis, Sloan, Conwell, Deuce, Brooks. That is SCARY. |

Beleive me, I\'m all for the tight ends getting 40 catches each, but this offense is simular to the ones that the Rams used. And I can see Duece cathing 60 plus this year.
Where I think you will see the tight ends have there most production at, is in the red zone. |

I have to agree with Billy on this one (for once). The TEs will get more balls thrown their way than last season, but I don\'t think they will be vital to this offense. Let\'s see Brooks add the screen pass to his arsenal of throws, next year he can work on the pass over the middle. He simply has too many options other than TEs. Conwell may get his 30-40 catches, Sloane won\'t.
