I responded to the original post, that said Copper would start. My point was that no matter what you call it, no way he is in the starting line-up against the Colts. (Unless we run a 4 wide, and even in that situation, Reggie would probably line up at FL)

That's the whole point. They don't play the same position. They would have to learn each receiver position, which only a few WR's have the capacity to do. There is much more than learning the routes. There are blitz pickups, blocking schemes, hot routes (audibles), etc. and it gets very confusing learning them all for more than one position. The ones who do, are like extra QB's out there (Marvin Harrison comes to mind, since he practices soooo much with Peyton Manning). Henderson lines up in the slot, or Y. Meachem will probably be a flanker, or the Z receiver. So you can't start your slot over your two wide receivers unless you happen to start the game in a weird formation for one play.

That would leave us with alot new faces to gel in the secondary. That alone makes me nervous. But hey they pulled it off last year with the LB and OL. I am really wondering if the Saint should pull the trigger in the supplemental draft and go for broke in redoing the CB group. The more I think about it the more I think they should.
Anyone know if trading in the supplemental is allowed? |
