this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Listening to WWL 4 PM Sports Show, yesterday I believe, and they were discussing Peter Kings prediction of the Saints and the Colts in the Super Bowl. Anybody know where to find this on the Internet?? Carolina was a favorite ...

Superbowl Predictions

Carolina was a favorite last year, and they didn't do very well. I hope the defense shows some improvement and they will have a chance again this year. If they can improve the run defense they will be a load for other teams. |

Eagles(if McNabb is healthy)/Saints vs. Patriots
There are so many good AFC teams though... if I had another choice I'd probably put Baltimore there too. I think the Colts are going to underachieve this year... just a gut feeling. I would include the Chargers here up there also but with such a large coaching overhaul, I think it's going to be tough for them. |

Because picking the Saints here would invite negative karma, I'm going with
Pats vs Washington. Pats are the obvious choice given their offseason moves. Washington got serious help in the draft on defense and was a hot team in the second half last season. Their schedule could be considered softer than most, even though they get the Pats and Chicago. They also get AZ, GB, TB, MI, Det and BUF, all very winnable games. Go 4-4 in division, they're 10-6, and the team nobody wants to face. |

The Pats are THE pick in the AFC, but the AFC is so strong all around that once playoff time rolls around things kind of get interesting, but as a Pats fan I am pulling for them. On the NFC side of the ball, it is the exact opposite. There are only a handfull of teams who look prime to make a run for the superbowl. The 9ers are the glam pick to be the Saints of this year, and the Saints are the pick to be the Bears of this year(Meaning stacked on one side of the ball, and it takes them to the Superbowl.) In my opinion I would take the Eagles(just like someone else mentioned if McNabb stays healthy) or the Seahawks vs. the Pats(I just can't NOT pick them, they stacked WRs for Brady and a defense for Bellichick to work with.

I don't get excited looking at PK's picks. He has been awful picking the SB contenders this early.

I think Washingtons defense will be sick, because injuries and all was one reason for them to be bad last year. landry and taylor together will be sick.

I don't get where all these people come from with the one side of the ball is stacked, and the other is garbage business.
For one, our defense knows how to stand up and shut people down when it's crunch time. For the first part of the Chicago game, they did excellent in my opinion. They shut down the Eagles when it mattered too. The part that hurt us most was the OFFENSIVE turnovers! Let's not beat around the bush, when you have like 5 turnovers in the first half - the defense has to constantly be on the field (in 29 degree nasty weather). They're not machines, they get tired. The way I see it, if we can improve on not giving up the big plays on defense and not turning the ball over on OFFENSE - we'll be the team to beat. I just don't buy all of this talk of our defense being swiss cheese while our offense is just the cirque de soliel. |
