Was the Eagles/Saints playoff the best 2006 post season game
I think in retrospect after watching the Eagles/Saints game yesterday, its a miracle we won that game people. I say that with some reservations too because I ddint really realize how close the Saints came to losing it in the last 2 minutes until I saw it about a week ago on NFLE. You couldnt ask for a more physical game guys, their were some big time emotions on the line there. Philly was well Philly, they played hard and intense and did some shots on our boys that still boggle my mind. It was like a heavyweight title fight/Ali/Frazier all mixed into one 60 minutes of hard nosed football
The stakes were obvoius: We had to win that game and we did, but I feel uncomfortable abit about next time and we have to face them again, would it be as easy? As A hard core Saints fan, I would like to think so, the Eagles though are a different breed, they are dirty, brutal and effiecent and yes I do think if we play again we may have a harder time beating them. dont get me wrong guys, I am glad the Saints won that game, hell it was a wonderful thing for me, but I wonder if we dodged a big time bullet that night. Jeff Garcia wasnt donovan Mcnabb and he is older but he was a man determined that night, he was playing lightsout. and that effort almost beat this team. I knew it was tough playing a team like them but the intensity of both teams was shocking to me personally and IMHO that game was the best game of the playoffs. It had everything you want in it . and more. |

No but the best play of the post season did come from that game. Watching Sheldown Brown jack up Reggie Bush like that was just awesome! I can watch that play over and over and over and over and over again and never get tired of it.

On the one subject, I was at that game, and can't remember a feeling like that at a stadium. When Deuce got that first down the drunk guy next to me lifted my 65 year old father up in the air and held him there until the last kneel down. Awesome feeling.
On the Bush hit, I am going to go ahead and say I HATE that play. We ran it twice a game all season long. There are several problems with it: one, it is a one option play- Drew just turns and throws- always the chance for a-pick-for-touch. Second, we don't need Reggie looking back for the ball on any play- it's dangerous, and he needs to be able to look forward so he can see the hole. Third, with our deep playbook, we shouldn't be running a play that even a novice fan can recognize. |

.. not to be picky, but it is super bowl, not superbowls... and don't expect the Panthers to be going back any time soon... they are down to 1 ex-Saint.
