I think it is time you guys gave up on Darwin Walker...the Saints just paid Hollis Thomas and Charles Grant big money this offseason...I know everyone here wants them to pay Will Smith and lock him in for the next 6 years...and that is going to cost more than what the other two guys got. And now you all want Darwin Walker?? The same guy who wants megabucks from the Bills?? The same guy the Eagles basically gave away because they didnt think he was worth the money he is looking for? I think its time to hop off of that train and start thinking realistic.

Hopefully DT Lance Legree can fill that pass rushing void that we lost when we released Whitehead, but please don't get it twisted, we need a pass rush up the middle to get more one on one match ups against our ends. Hell man, you think any team in this league wants to face a front four consisting of Grant, Walker, Young, and Smith, I don't think so, the Saints wouldn't even have to blitz, and when they do, someone's gonna break free.

So are you saying we should give the big money to Walker and have Hollis Thomas just count his money on the sideline? I dont understand how you can expect the Saints to just waste the money they just paid thomas to take on another big contract from Darwin Walker. Not to mention, the Saints just shelled out another 5 million to Kendrick Clancy. So your point is that we should have 4 DT's on the roster making big money. And all that for a guy who has refused to show up this offseason for 2 different teams. If thats your opinion, thats fine, i am not bashing you...it just doesnt seem to add up to me.

If you look at Brian Young in the fourth quarter of games last year, he seems to be exhausted, tired, and not as effective as he is in the first three quarters, and that's when we had Whitehead as his backup, how ineffective do you think he's going to be if Legree don't pan put. The reports on why he didn't want to show up at the Bills camp is not entirely about money, it also involved a multi year deal. If it was all about the money he wouldn't have turned down the one year $1.5 mil and become a FA next year, your not that familiar with Walker but I am, this kids a BEAST in the middle, basically destroying the pocket. It might not make any sense to you and that's your opinion, but it makes all the sense in the world to me, with Walker and Young rotating from that position, your looking at a possible 12 to 15 sacks and endless pressure from the DT position, and that my friend is how you win SUPERBOWLS.

Hey, i understand you want to add as many players as possible...and what i am telling you that monetarily, it doesnt make sense. You cant pay someone the kind of money he is looking for to be a sub with Brian Young. I think the rotation with Young, Thomas, Clancy and Lake will be just fine. You throw in the others guys in Leisle and Legree and that is pretty much what you are going to have on this team. I would like you to name one team in the NFL that has more than 2 million dollars invested in 4 different DT's. Aside from Denver, i dont think there is one. You just cant shell out money to everyone, especially the kind of money Walker wants. The only way I can even imagine that move making sense would be if they cut Brian Young...and that doesnt make a lot of sense.
And as far as Dhani Jones, i dont have any info, because everyone is on vacation right now. |

Imho
I think somebody has a man crush on Walker. Adding another quality DT is always a good thing, but you have to watch your cap. We will have to pay big money soon to keep some of our on. It also sounds like he might not be a team playa. It appear most people on here as well as myself, feel they have enough of a rotation to keep legs fresh for the season. Hollis, when fresh and healthy, can collapse a pocket in a hurry. I hope it doesn't come down to this but after Tank come off suspension if we need help, he could be taken with a much lower price tag. And that is if he can keep his nose clean for that long and prove to Payton that he wants to put the team first.
