how bout sign this guy as a FB/DE
If anyone follows arena football and they saw the game tonight between the LA Avengers and the Utah Blaze, you'll know who this guy is. His name is Josh Jeff Jeffries (#58). The guy, technically a DE, but playing FB, was a beast. Ran for 2 TDs, caught 2 more , and the second of which a longgg run was a thing of beauty at any level of football. to top it off, he made an interception on defense when he caught it off the net and down the sidelines and nearly scored. I put a link to his LA webpage bio below, but he's 6-3, 260, from Appalachian State. Conference defensive player of the year and a finalist for the Buchanan award for top D-lineman. Id say give him at least a tryout/workout. he can play DE and bring some heat, but id mainly see him as backup to Karney. He has good hands it seems. The whole game tonight I kept getting Karney vs Dallas flashbacks

Dan Curran, the VooDoo player; more on Jeffries
He is from Univ. of New hampshire, not U. Conn, but right idea... he's got the same New England accent. nice guy, too. but, this past season he was hurt some, but i think with rules changes, that hurt him. he was barely used after about mid-season. i put his VooDoo bio page link below (I think his attitude on the NFL now is if its offerred, he'll maybe give it a shot, but he's not out looking for it to end all). Jeffries actually played LB last night in the game and as far as his peed, well, as i eluded to, that longgg run was nice. he outran some DBs. I agree he'd be small for a DE (notice the E as in "end" NOT tackle). He was with Tenn in camp back in 2003 and made it till last cut. got an INT in one of their games, too. If you look at the Saints roster, he weighs more than Ninkovich, Willie Evans, Josh Cooper and Jon Hamm. and he'd be only about 20 less than the great Will Smith. He's light but's he quick and fairly nimble and has some foot speed. as for his height (being too tall), LA has him listed at that weight. 2 links i found on him (one from NFL.com), have him at barely over 6 feet. hmm, fullback height now maybe?
http://nflexperts.scout.com/2/92880.html http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/397891 anyway, with all of this, all Im saying is the guy played one hell of a game, doing some things you rarely see in an Arena game at that, and the thought of him in Black and Gold intrigued me. you cannot deny a guy a tryout just bacause most arena guys dont make it. i would rather give someone a tryout than not and another nfl team prosper from bringing him in.
