Larry Weisman, of USA Today, reports New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees earned $22 million last season, making him the second-highest paid player in the NFL in 2006, according to an annual survey of player compensation.


And worth every penny to me!

well at the very least, he was the 2nd best quarterback in the league, why not pay him accordingly.

like you said, worth every penny.

Nice. Now when he takes the Black & Gold Nation to the Super Bowl there will be a move to make him the highest paid player.

I think his contract was front loaded on purpose to avoid a big future cap hit if his shoulder didn't heal as anticipated. A brilliant move by Loomis and Ball.

IIRC he will be a bit cheaper (smaller cap hit) in 2007.
