Saints one of a few at Dickson pro day

Pro-Day workout: Clifton Dickson

By TFY Draft Preview

Posted Jul 10, 2007

One of the lesser known commodities in this weeks supplemental draft, former Florida State defensive lineman Clifton Dickson worked out today at Chaminade-Madonna Prep in Hollywood, Florida. Here's a look at the results.

The New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers were a few of the teams on hand this morning to watch Dickson work out. BLESTO also had a scout in attendance who will report back to the franchises involved with that service.
Dickson measured in at 6-feet-4-inches and 300-pounds. He had previously checked in with 12% body fat. The consensus on his forty time was 5.12-seconds. Dickson's vertical jumped measured 26.5-inches with a 9-foot broad jump. He completed 17-reps on the bench.
Sources on hand told us Dickson looked outstanding during the position drills displaying good foot quickness, movement skills and agility. Many on hand were not only impressed with his physique but the way the 300-pounder held up in the oppressive Florida heat. Representatives from Dickson's camp told us he had just four weeks of training.
Projected to be a starter in '05, Dickson was declared academically ineligible and has not played football since. A bit of an unknown entering the supplemental draft, Dickson did enough as a sophomore to catch our eye as a future NFL prospect. A scouting report on Dickson prior to the '05 season can be found here.
Dickson's game took off as a sophomore in 2004. Seeing extensive action at defensive tackle when he filled in for the injured Broderick Bunkley, he recorded 17-tackles, six tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks on the season playing next to Travis Johnson.
While it is highly unlikely any team will use a draft selection on Dickson, it would not be a surprise to see him stick on a practice squad based on the skills he previously displayed. He offers potential

Hmmm we might get one of the two DT in the supplemental draft

I'm not sure that Payton will invest a draft choice on these guys. Unless they have shown something very special.

Nope as I mentioned in other threads I believe we are looking at UDSFA. If this kid looks good enough who is to say sean could once again surprise us.

He has good size and a good physique. I wouldn't mind us bringing him in to see what he's got to offer. If we wanted to throw a draft pick his way, I probably wouldn't throw anything more than a 7th at him though.

Man, 300 lbs and 12% body fat is crazy. I don't know where they grow these boys.
