Deuce McCalister

papz 07-13-2007 08:01 AM

Eric Martin, Sam Mills, and Deuce. There are plenty though... the whole Dome Patrol team was awesome. Toi Cook, Vince Buck, Brett Maxie, etc. weren't the greatest, but I've always liked them.

Deuce
Roaf
Mills

This is a tough one but i guess one of the reasons I became a DIEHARD Saints fan was because of...."IRONHEAD". I loved watching him get gauranteed first downs...over and over. He RULED!

iceshack149 07-13-2007 11:28 AM

Duece McAllister is my favorite all time Saints player. His attitude, desire, and style of play seem to define a New Orleans Saints football player.

I loved the Dome Patrol. Those four guys made me favor the Linebacker position so it has been really hard on me watching the clowns that we had in there over the past 15 years or so. A few LB's did alright but for the most part they were weak. As well as the whole defense.

I liked that Joe Horn played well while here but I never did like the guy.

TheDeuce 07-13-2007 11:37 AM

Deuce. Class act who plays hard every game. I just think he's a great role model for kids who want to play this game.

I also loved Willie Roaf. Hands down the best lineman ever on this team.

neugey 07-13-2007 11:43 AM

1) Sam Mills
2) Willie Roaf
3) Morten Andersen
4) Drew Brees
5) Reggie Bush

But I also loved watching Deuce, Horn, Turley and so many more. It was also great to see Ricky Williams w/ the Saints, wish things could've turned out better than they did.

BleedBlack&Gold 07-13-2007 05:41 PM

my favorites and least favorites.

Favorites
Deuce - class act
Archie - the face of the saints
Sam Mills - another class act
Hated
Chris Everett - nuff said
Quadry Ishmael? - did he even catch a ball?
Jonathan Sullivan - He laughed all the way to the bank
Ricky Williams - THE DRESS!
Splitsville between Venturi and Smith, (Mora O.C.) neither should have held a clip board.
Dont get me wrong I rooted for the team as a whole but as these guys careers progressed, I could see the deficiencies right away and always wondered no short leash. I think Payton would have handled these guys totally different and maybe things would have had a different outcome.

Euphoria 07-13-2007 06:01 PM

How could anyone leave off

GUIDO MERKINS

Danno 07-13-2007 06:23 PM

Mine was Rickey Jackson, until he signed with the 49ers.

I guess now I'd have to say Vaughn Johnson, the unsung MEAT of the Dome Patrol.

I've always liked the blue collar guys. Never cared much for the Joe Horn types.

My current favorites are
1. Brees
2. Harper (I'm a Bama fan)
3. Colston
4. Karney
5. Grant
6. Fujita

Ashley 07-13-2007 07:15 PM

#1 Shawn Knight by far.... LOL What a joke
I liked Wayne Martin .

LongTimeFan 07-13-2007 07:22 PM

Bobby Hebert
Ricky Jackson
Eric Martin

Hey ScottF, This is my top 3 as well:
1.) Arch
2.) Deuce
3.) Ricky

But if the thread is going to start with Jim Everitt, then obviously the following were overlooked:

Guido "Mr. Everything" Merkens
Alvin Toles (how can you pass on a 1st round pick linebacker?!?)
Tinker "Forgot to Call Fair Catch" Owens

kevinn1972 07-15-2007 08:51 AM

Rickey Jackson (Even though it was with the 49'ers, I was glad he got the ring)
Dalton Hilliard (Gotta love how he plowed over people)
Duece (A total class act and consummate professional)

BoudinSandwich 07-15-2007 09:10 AM

1) Sammy Knight -
Since he was with this team in the beginning, I preached his name. I may have been the first Saint fan to ever buy his jersey. The guy was the best heads-up player I've ever seen. And, man, could he hit.

A few years ago, when we played the Steelers in the dome, I was wearing my Knight jersey. A Steelers fan asked "Who's Knight?" I answered, "Sammy Knight, Strong Safety. He's going to pick off your QB in a few." Sammy had 2-interceptions that day.

2) Drew Brees
I'm a huge Chargers fan, so this is a given for me. Plus, he has restored the position from the dreadful AB years. He's also shown a lot of devotion to the city.

3) Rickey Jackson
I was born into being a Rickey Jackson fan. My favorite position is MLB. My Great-Grandpawpaw gave me a Rickey Jackson action figure for Christmas one year when he found out I loved the Saints. (I think I was, like, 4.)

4) Jim Mora
For telling it like it is and finally building a winning team.

5) Deuce
For being the honorable player that he is. Oh, yeah, and he's good.

6) Bobby Hebert, Sam Mills, Morten Anderson, and Quinn Early
My first few years, I watched these guys. They're the first players I began to recognize.

I never got to see Archie play, but I respect him atleast.

Oh, and hopefully Reggie will join that list soon.

BlackandBlue 07-16-2007 09:53 AM

1. Rickey Jackson (who played OLB, not MLB... hope that doesn't squash your man-love for him OldiesDJ)
2. Deuce McAllister
3. Dalton Hilliard
4. Sam Mills
5. Drew Brees (who is quickly ascending this list)

BoudinSandwich 07-16-2007 10:17 AM

Actually, I just MEANT to say Linebacker. The only reason I specified 'MLB' is because it was the position that I actually played when I was younger.

CHACHING 07-16-2007 10:25 AM

1. Deuce

2. Deuce

3. Deuce

Boogro 07-16-2007 10:51 AM

Wesley Carroll

Tobias-Reiper 07-16-2007 12:01 PM

...hard question to answer... too many players have come and gone, some are here now who are growing on me...

... but, there was a time when I went to the Dome to watch the Dome Patrol play, not the Saints.. so I'd say, the Dome Patrol are my favorite players all time.

DeadmaN 07-16-2007 12:53 PM

Archie (the guy is a Legend in Louisiana)

Lets not forget about The Cajun Cannon Bobby Hebert (a real down to earth guy and definitely a true Louisiana boy)

Dalton Hilliard (not just for the way he played but he was a really cool guy and I had the chance to have several conversations with him because I went to Destrehan High School and him and several of the Players use to come to the gym to work out thanks to the facts that most of them lived there and we had coach Sidwell’s son playing with us on the Destrehan High’s Fighting Wild Cats “GO D”)

DUCE (that should speak for it’s self)

and my 2 new favs…

Drew Breese
and
Reggie Bush (that should speak for it’s self also)

patdog 07-16-2007 01:55 PM

The all time greatest Saint " Rickey Jackson".

I would have to say that he was to me the biggest disappointment (for me anyway)

I mean come on
