this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; "Brian Young has a fracture in his foot, which needed a surgical procedure last week, so it’s unlikely that he’ll be available at the start of camp."...

Saints DT Young fractures foot, may miss start of camp
July 18, 2007 CBS SportsLine.com wire reports NEW ORLEANS -- Saints defensive tackle Brian Young fractured a foot while doing some offseason training on his own in Florida and will likely miss the opening practices of training camp. General manager Mickey Loomis said Young, 30, had surgery on the foot last week but could not say when the lineman would be able to return to practice. Loomis did not specify which foot was involved. The Saints' backups at Young's spot include Kendrick Clancy, Antwan Lake and Rodney Leisle. Leisle started during Hollis Thomas' suspension late last season. Young and special teams leader Steve Gleason, who in June had an operation known as a microfracture performed on his right knee, are the only players expected to be sidelines when the Saints hold their first practice of training camp on July 27 at Millsaps College in Jackson, Miss. Gleason, also a reserve safety, is expected to return in the second or third week of training camp. I really don't want to start anouther marathon Tank thread. I was merely alluding to the fact that DT's can be injury prone and need a lot of breathers during games. I remember Willie Parker eating our D alive, Hollis getting a 4-game suspension and the DTs wearing down over the playoffs. Tank's a "thug" and no one wants him on this team...regardless of how cheap he would come...I got it...forget that I mentioned it. |

As soon as I heard about Young's foot, I thought about that Clancy signing, and how good it was. It shows that they are getting good players, just incase of injuries. I hope they get Tank, I know he is a good person and player.
