this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; WNDU - Sports I guess they wanted to give him an opportunity to "catch" on with another team....

Re: So long McKnight.....
Same as last year. Who was that kid that everyone thought was going to be so great? He didn't make it past the 2nd cut. Reciever is a hard position to make. There are just to many good ones out there. I remember talking to coach Johnson at camp last year, even he said he was having trouble deciding who to cut. They're all that close.

This cut makes me think thier minds are pretty much just about made up as far as the number of receivers they'll going to carry, and who they are.
I really like this kid, he'll get picked up. |

Re: So long McKnight.....
the WR from last season youre referring to was/is Mike Haas out of Oregon State. he was on the Bears practice squad the whole season. We weren't the only ones high on him. I have his Upper Deck sports card. as for McKnight, wwl radio tonight said he may had a coachability issue. he reacted poorly to criticism, even in his body language that others noticed.

yep that was my boy, Hass.
Remember we just signed G Tim Duckworth (Auburn) and WR Chris Jackson (Millsaps). The real surprise probably is the play of Tramain Hall FA NFL Europe this spring from the Cologne Centurions. he has been getting press. So as far as being set that is maybe true for the team roster but I see us working on the PS right now. I place attitude as the main reason he was probably cut. |

He was a long shot as it was. Hopefully he'll catch on with someone soon. He was a nice kid to root for. And I agree with Joe, you got to love the depth of our receivers right now. There aren't any big names, but it's a solid hard working bunch.

Re: So long McKnight.....
I was up at Milsaps on Monday. I noticed that Mcknight dropped catchable passes during drills and he looked lost most of the time during practice. I especially payed attention to him for some reason while I was there. To be honest and non offensive to Rhema we have some very talented WR in camp. I dont even think he could have competed with the practice squad WRs. I like long shots and feel good undrafted success stories but unfortunatly this guy does not fit the mold. Must be a terrible feeling to be cut from a team with such a great future.
