this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; It's preseason, they just came off a very hard week in camp, they looked tired IMO, they will improve... Not sure why David didn't start the game, the only thing that puzzles me .....

Re: Ummm.. WTH?
You also have to remember that Tomlin is a first time HC and what do first time HC's like to do in their first preseason game? WIN.
I'm sure the packages we have in are similar to what they would have had in for the black and gold scrimmage - maybe plus a few things. This is not the time for WTF's! |

I just don't understand what's up with the 1st stringers.
I know they're tired, but the Steelers aren't? |

Re: Ummmmm.. WTH?
The thing that puzzles me is why they look like they don't want to be there. I don't care if this is preseason you should still play with some type of enthusiasm. If you don't want to play, stay at home and let someone else play. I don't want to here about not showing what your plans are for this season because there are 16 games that are played during the year and teams will figure out your game plan anyway. That's why you practice and game plan all season long.

Re: Ummmmm.. WTH?
What puzzles me is why they didn't alter the line up. It seems they started the entire squad (defensively) that they ended the season with. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to pick up free agents for big money in the off season (Simmons, David) and not start them with the "A" Squad to see how they fare against the opponent's starters.
Is anyone else not getting it tonite? |

All in all 3 hours of my life I will never get back. Throw in the case of beer and the Michael Irvin interview and I might be puking all night as well. I just love how the entire world is congratulating Irvin for being a f up his whole life but because he admitted to being an f up his whole life in a 20 minute speech he is such a bastion of hope for humanity.

It's definately not panick mode on the secondary or anything fellas. We didn't play well last preseason and we did great during the regular season. Every year the Colts blow around this time... it means nothing. It's used to evaluate the youngsters and to see who's going to make the team. |

Re: Ummmmm.. WTH?
I have to say, the team looked really good at TC on thursday and friday and it was dissappointing to see such a lack luster performance, but it is the first of five preseason games. The only new signing that really "started" was KK. From what I could tell at TC and during the game. David and Simmons are going to have to win their spots, and I'm all for that.
A few things to remember while you wail and gnash your teeth: 1. the Steelers had an extra couple of days of practice. 2. Tomlin definitely wanted to look good out there since it was his first game as an HC. 3. Payton likes to put his players into "unwinable" situations and see how they perform. I'm not convinced that he was calling up the best plays. |
