Football Outsiders: Ranking the WRs 1-16
15. New Orleans (29)
Maybe the unlikeliest group of receivers to come out of 2006. Expected starters Joe Horn, Donte' Stallworth, and Zach Hilton contributed only 37 catches to the team; Stallworth was traded when Sean Peyton saw the riches he had behind them in training camp. Marques Colston (17.3 percent DVOA, 16th in the league) had an amazing three-quarters of the season before struggling with injury, while Devery Henderson was the best wide receiver — on a play-by-play basis — in football, leading the league with a 39.7 percent DVOA. Hilton was flat-out cut and replaced by assorted flotsam; former 49ers TE Eric Johnson represents another excellent option in the passing game if he can remain healthy. Speaking of, first-round pick Robert Meachem has yet to show that he can do so; he's off to an awfully inauspicious start to his career, and he's not likely to have much of an impact on the 2007 team. *Number in parenthesis are rankings from last year. *Click link for rest of rankings.
