Preseason Blues

Why would anyone be feeling down or whining about the HOF game or any future PS game. I watched it over and over looking at individual players. There were just as many bright spots as bad ones. This was a team that is nearly done with TC playing a team that just started it. I could have cared less if we lost by 50. They game planned for us and it was obvious. IMO we did not plan for anything more than their key offensive players and maybe some of their D packages. And if we did who cares. This is a scrimage and they do not count. They are basically practice. For those who are ready to say the sky is falling..... pick your heads up and feast your eyes on this.

Re: Preseason Blues

The D-line looked really good, especially Clancy and Big Will. Copper locked in the three spot, IMO. Lance Moore looked really good. KK played well. Pittman played well considdering it was his first NFL-type game. The battle between him and Stecker should be interesting. Fife had his drive, too.

That Bettis clone that Pitt has is nasty, though. He made our (second-stringers) look like sissies.

After looking at these guys at TC and in the game, I'm not sure Patten and/or J. Jones make the final roster. Meach, Marques, Copper, Moore, Devery are all looking really good and are all healthy.

Well Fife for one impressed me. He sustained an 8 minute drive converting one of the two forth downs for a TD.

Will Smith and Simeneaux had sacks on consecutive plays.

Copper showed some good hands also great execution of the end around that should have been a loss of yards.

Mare kicked a TB on the opening KO.

We gave up no sacks

Re: Preseason Blues

I was unable to watch the game, but I was listening on the radio and at first I was disgusted. Then I realized that the Steelers were blizting every down it seems and it was evident that they wanted to win and make a statement for their new head coach. To not give up any sacks is impressive in itself. MM did get burned on a double-move, but it doesn't count. You will actually probably see more of that since we are making an emphasis on turnovers this year. Corners are going to guess more and bite more on things like that. Hopefully it doesn't get out of hand.

Re: Preseason Blues

i'm not as worried about the takeaway ratio as much as us giving up the big plays

if trying to strip the ball leads to missed tackles and jumping receiver routes leads to deep completions than i'd rather not go that route but it sure did look like the gameplan sunday night

All I can say is that we should all "BELIEVE" that we have the "FAITH" to "EARN IT"!

Re: Preseason Blues

I'd have to agree. I remember last preseason I was down (with a shimmer of hope) thinking that it was going to be an 8-8 season at best. Preseason is preseason I've learned. I remember being elated in the past when Saints did well in the preseason just to bomb in the regular season. We're all anxious and maybe that makes us a little paranoid. Week one against against the Colts is where we'll really be able to judge just what kind of team we'll be dealing with this season.

Re: Preseason Blues

Thats right keep the FAITH. 12th man is key. Fans in the stands have to carry the team at times of need. By the way NJ you were on board with me about Clancy last year. Glad we got him with out the over inflated signing bounus he got in Arizona.

Re: Preseason Blues

to me the preseason is eerily like porn. when it first comes on, you get excited. but then after just a few minutes (for whatever reason), you are no longer interested.
