Fujita and Miller Both Wounded at Park.
INJURIES:@ Payton said starting linebacker Scott Fujita likely will not play because of soreness from a heel bruise that occurred during a trip to a water park on Wednesday.
However, tight end Billy Miller, who cut open his forehead and required stitches, is expected to play, even though he couldn't practice Wednesday afternoon or Thursday. "Last year's result of getting cut and coming back is not an option, so I'm going to do whatever I've got to do," Miller said. Miller said he hurt himself by going down a water slide headfirst and then instinctively ducked his head below the water. "You know what the problem is? Growing up in California you get used to ducking those waves. Well, for some strange reason I put my head down, smacked it on the slide and got up like, 'Man, I hit my head, let's do it again,' and everyone was looking at me like, 'You're bleeding,' ... but I'm fine," Miller said. Miller said he did not get much sympathy once his teammates realizes he was not seriously hurt. "There's no mercy. I'm bleeding holding my head and everyone's making fun of me and laughing," Miller said. "You've got to expect that. That's what makes us a team — close knit guys." Meanwhile, Payton said several other players will be sitting out, including left tackle Jammal Brown (knee), center Jeff Faine (calf), receiver David Patten (turf toe), defensive end Rob Ninkovich (knee), and guard Dave Yovanovits (knee). Maybe the player should wear inner tubes and helment so they don't hurt. For the love of god my 8 years old does not get hurt at a water park. |
"We may have lost the game, but you'll be hurting tomorrow." Doug Atkins
