CINCINNATI - Did Lance Moore erase any doubts about whether the Saints' kick return game is in capable hands this season?

Moore had a 47-yard kick return after the Bengals had cut the lead to 7-3.


--It was another short, but extremely effecient, night for Drew Brees. Brees took a seat after the Saints' opening drive on which Brees was 6 of 6 for 55 yards, hitting four different receviers. Last week, he was 10 of 12 for 112 yards on two series.

Brees was replaced on New Orleans second possession by Jamie Martin, as planned, so Martin could get playing time with the first teamers.

--The Bengals had a big passing day in a regular-season victory last year in the Superdome and started quickly again Saturday night.

--Kicker Olindo Mare had three kickoffs in the quarter, none were returned, and two sailed out of the end zone. The third was fielded and downed 9 yards deep.

--The Saints failed to convert their only third-down attempt in the quarter, but led the game 10-3.
