this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Anybody has the latest on his chances, I along with everybody else really like this guy. I would cut Pittman if I had to just to keep Pierre. He has earned a spot on this team....

Re: Pierre Thomas
I agree. This kid has shown me something, in his running, he keeps his legs driving after the first hit as opposed to Pittman going down when someone whiffs at him. Thomas has also looked good on returns of kickoffs and punts.
How you can even consider cutting him is beyond me. I'm telling you, and you cam mark my words, if we cut this kid, he'll come back to haunt us! |

Re: Pierre Thomas
Tell me again what Thomas has done this preseason that warrants being CUT?
Name it. I understand that I'm not a coach, I understand that. But you can't tell me this kid didn't perform when the cameras were rolling. In my opinion, he was the best thing going for the Saints in that Steelers preseason game. He catches well, he runs well. What's not to like? Pittman will be good in TIME, however, Thomas is hungry NOW. |

Re: Pierre Thomas
I'm a Hugh Pierre Thomas fan, I really like the way this kid runs, but I'm not ready to totally give up on Antonio Pittman. Remember, it took "The Magician"(Reggie) more than half the season to get adjusted to the style of defense played in the NFL. Thomas more than earned a spot on the squad, he deserves it, but not at the expense of Pittman.

Re: Pierre Thomas
I heard Payton make a comment on WWL (n.o. sports/talk radio) today when questioned about Pierre, that the final roster will come down to who he and the staff believes will give the Saints the best chance to win games and not neccessarily who has more experience or who was drafted higher. He went on to say something about how versatile Pierre was with ST`s.
Now hearing that from Payton makes me think Pierre has a slight edge thus far. I think Payton will use this Miami game to clear up the decision of which back-up RB they`ll keep on the roster. But I got the impression Payton is impressed with Pierre. did anyone else hear this short interview? |

Re: Pierre Thomas
With the regs out, PT, Pittman and Stecker will get the load this week. Let the best man win.
