Whoever plays inside is going to have to keep blockers off the middle linebacker. There is a chance rookie Cie Grant could be the starter, although he missed a significant amount of time in the rookie program because his class at Ohio State didn't graduate until late. Grant will compete with Orlando Ruff at middle linebacker. Grant is one of those fast players teams are now looking to get on the field.

This guy is a huge disappointment, what a waste! There are not any other quality DT out there now, unless the Skins stick to there threat to cut Dan Wilkinson. A in shape motivated Grady Jackson and none of this is a problem. If this guy does tank I sure hope Kenny Smith is for real.

I agree gator- I was really counting on Grady to get his act together and be the starting DT alongside Sullivan. I\'m sorry, but I don\'t see Sullivan/Smith keeping the O-line off Ruff, and he might end up playing worse than any of us could have predicted.

Anyone remember Martin Chase? He had some quality games last year. This could be just the chance he has been waiting for. This is the guy who may suprise everyone and really step up his game.

i thought if a player retired early then the team had to put them on some kind of retired player list and they still tooak a small cap hit, like with deion, he retired but still belonged to the skins up until last year and i thought they took a hit for him too

maybe i just don\'t have enough brain cells left to support long term memory recall properly anymore

We need Yoda to clear up the cap situation, but here\'s my guess what will happen if Grady retires:
He forfeits the salaries for 2003+, however the team will take a hit for the signing bonus (don\'t remember what it was). The team can decide if it wants to spread it out over the whole contract length or take the entire hit this season. As the Saints are still under the cap quite substantially this wouldn\'t really a problem.
Gator is right, this could easily be our biggest problem. I always said that I hoped to have Grady back and at least back to 80% of what he could do. Don\'t expect him to ever hit 330 this season, even if he comes back. But I can\'t help it, I still want him in a Saints uniform this season.
Whatever your problem is, Grady, food is not gonna solve it. Don\'t go for 400!
