Not sure where to start since this season opening performance was totally unexpected. The Saints had a total of 13 possessions with a merely 5 crossing the mid-field stripe. The Defense played OK for the first 30 minutes but it was quite apparent the run defense looked very porous. The Colts rushed the ball 29 times for 163 yds. averaging 5.6 yds per carry.

IMO, Duece running the ball 10 times a game is not gonna cut it. Reggie needs to run the ball North/South and forget about the side step juking. NFL players are way to fast and converge on the ball in a matter of seconds. The backside pursuit caught him most every time as he averaged 3.5 yds per rush.

I only saw 2 bright spots from tonights humiliation as both involved the special teams. Weatherford averaged just under 49 yds. for his 5 punts, and Lance Moore had 1 punt return for 30 yds. Take away the Reggie Wayne fumble return for a TD and this game would have been an even more embarrassment.

Since I looked at this game as a "measuring stick", we definitely know which areas need immediate improvement. The Saints have 9 days to move forward and prepare for Tampa Bay at Raymond James Stadium. If the rush defense does not improve, Cadillac Williams and Michael Pittman will have a field day. On the other hand, 1 game does not make a season, and I trust this coaching staff and team's character.
